Someone's about to get hurt. Very badly.

Sending out an S-O-S to you. I'm sending out an S-O-S...

Message in a bul-let...

+2 !!! Take a couple of internets out of petty cash for that one :)

Panel 2 crash scene: Looks awesome!

Hopefully Jorvik "deals with the matter" with extreme prejudice.
Mark_L_A 10th Nov 2021, 7:11 AM edit delete reply

Will we get a better look at the ship in the next few panels? The artwork is, as usual fantastic Ladies.

It's the little touches, like the nicely brocaded 'scarf' the bandit's wearing.
Pity the cargo's going to be snapped up by the Feeliewhackers once the dust settles.
That armour the Ranger's wearing looks kind of high tech, maybe a LunaComm stealth suit ?
He should maybe think about activating it right about now ;)

After all, sending messages IS LunaCom's core competency
Morituri 10th Nov 2021, 9:22 AM edit delete reply
Bigger bounty if you bring 'em in dead says a whole lot about Luna-com's confidence in local jurisprudence, doesn't it?

I can already set this one up though; up until now the Gold Squad has been deficient in transportation. No vehicles in evidence, although some hints that they may have access to ground transport are in.

Here's a situation presenting a downed luna-com transport, likely with technology a bit better than locally available, with its defenses temporarily disabled.

With their stealth tech, they could just climb on board and take off while these two/three are engaged in negotiations and/or shooting; but given their demonstrated reverence for the value of human life, they'll probably feel obligated to bust some shit up and kill some folks first.

I'm left guessing whether the Ranger in the picture will function more as a rescuer to the pilot, more as a witness to the carnage, or possibly as an effective opposition force to gold squad. Sort of depends on what she's equipped with.

Or, you know, whether everything goes pear-shaped and she turns out to be the newest gold squad "recruit."

I think we know this ranger.
SeanR 10th Nov 2021, 9:54 AM edit delete reply
Okay, apparently not. Wrong last name.
DLKmusic 10th Nov 2021, 10:37 AM edit delete reply

The armor is fairly androgynous, so we don't know yet if "He" or "She" is applicable, but I think you may be right about this being more than just a downed transport incident.
Oldarmourer 10th Nov 2021, 12:02 PM edit delete reply
Would a desert thug even be able to bring down a LunaComm transport ?
Gavin did manage to shoot down Ada's ship but he had help...a lot of it and got really lucky, except for the last few seconds ;)
I'd think an LC carrier would be ready for attack as a matter of course and be expecting it, especially in the wastes.
I'm wondering if the Feliewhackers did it for them and intend to collect the tech AND the 'waster scum' without exposing themselves too much.
Ranger looks a little overconfident, that usually means bad things around here ;)
DLKmusic 10th Nov 2021, 3:55 PM edit delete reply

@oldarmourer: These are all good points, although based on the dialog of the Luna Comm pilot, it's also possible that she was caught with her (figurative) pants down going through an ambush point, and the wasters got lucky.

There's a lot of crap that happens when people are careless, and we as a species seem completely incapable of learning that lesson.
megados 10th Nov 2021, 4:59 PM edit delete reply

It's mostly a matter of context. If the LC carrier uses balanced propulsion, for instance, shoot out a couple of thrusters, and it'll fall by itself. I don't have the feeling (yet) that the goldies are involved. I don't think I have enough to go on. Ranger Jorvik as much as says, that this is a usual ambush point, meaning it could have been anyone, so far.
Oldarmourer 11th Nov 2021, 5:22 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, but if it were just a routine ambush then it wouldn't be here, now would it ? ;)
DC Rule #2: everything is more complicated than it seems
megados 11th Nov 2021, 5:55 PM edit delete reply

Well of course it's more complicated, but in what way?? ;)

Sure, it makes sense for wasters to deploy jamming, but where have we actually SEEN jamming, hmm?
Rashala 11th Nov 2021, 11:49 PM edit delete reply

I have a feeling this rangers message will be arriving at muzzle velocity.
Oldarmourer 12th Nov 2021, 7:26 AM edit delete reply
Or maaaaaybeee....
Since Ada's not going anywhere until she's finished with her pool boy
Marcus decided to take a quick VR dip while he waits and this is his story
Wrong accent for Feelie and she'd likely have a male pilot to 'show his gratitude' ;)
Johninaustin 13th Nov 2021, 7:10 AM edit delete reply
I have a bad feeling the everybody involved is about to get ambushed by The Gold Squad. (TGS)

The Ranger isn't jamming and the bandits have no reason to jam any more since they already brought the ship down. So there is a third party in this.
Oldarmourer 13th Nov 2021, 1:38 PM edit delete reply
But what kind of jam ? Wildberry ? Had to be done and you all know it :P
