You totally keep nailing creepy & weird with these things.
I hope this means she is gonna live, but I try to remember the story as a thing already completed, we are watching history. The outcomes don't, nay can't change.
If I understand the ... thing ... correctly, she's about to NOT be harvested, on account of being too weak for whatever their deeply creepy purposes might be. So, yay?
They're very hard to place in time. They have a helicopter a thousand years out of date, are wearing the seal of a current marine unit, are armed with absolutely up-to-the-minute weaponry, if not ahead-of-the-curve weaponry, are clearly some kind of cyborgs, have up-to-the-minute bio-scanners that can tell them from yards away about her brittle bones and stringy muscles, and apparently aren't at all impressed by the light anti-grav and strength-assist built into her suit, even though, given her condition, it must be clear to them that that hardware exists.
So they're some weird mix of a thousand years old, and straight off some up-to-the-instant secret research lab.
They seem less glitchy now than when they appeared. Like they're getting their bearings and getting better situational awareness the longer they're up and around. Like they know what they're doing instead of carrying out orders blindly on no intel. If this is the case, they now seem less random and more dangerous.
It commented that her bones and muscles are weak from living in a low-grav environment, but that her neurological systems were advanced. The fact that she poses no threat may mean that she doesn't have to be destroyed, like Feelie and her crew were, and can instead be harvested for those excellent neurons.
Well they head shot'ed the parents at the water plant, so my hope is they don't need or want advanced neurological capabilities in what they are harvesting. if her body structure is too weak for their needs as well 'maybe' they will just leave her.
I really feel bad for that ranger watching all of this. He cant attack because there are too many of them with powerful weapons. He does no one any good in the future if he tries to take this group on directly. Hopefully one hasn't already spotted him since they did come in by air and seem to be able to detect any active scanning.

Re: Alt text, I have hope that it gets turned around, and she can get up yet again tomorrow.
I've had years like that, bed is good, bed is comfy, bed is safe(r) or at least quieter which is enough.

Or, what, what if I am? What's the right answer???
