Oh ... and I like how Goldie does not understand that the weak one runs instead of taking his offer and still thinks that he needs to explain better...
So, our golden cyborgs are cyborgs with organic parts. Another datapoint.
Big minus for Ranger Jorvik for poor trigger discipline. You keep finger off the trigger when you're not shooting. No matter what. The man needs a refresher. (Centcomm? Take note for future panels.)
Oh, and sorry. Forgot the magic word, Centcomm. "Please."
(Sorry about the nitpicking, but that particular issue is ...significant and irritating to some.)
actually is is aiming at the bad guys.. so yes .. finger is just off the trigger but close.. i had a person remind me about TD.. and i mostly follow it..
its hard to make out due to the angle of the pistol and all that...
I swear, the next time I hear "booger hook off the bangswitch" I'm going to pop an aneurysm...I've even seen someone write it for apicture where the female shooter was very clearly engaging targets..and it always seems to be aimed towards women (and in this case, we don't know enough about our Ranger friend to decide yet)
Once your weapon is pointed in the direction of what you intend to shoot or if you're in a 'watch and shoot' scenario then you pretty much have to put your finger on the trigger to get stuff done.
Holding your finger rigidly straight along the side of the weapon is a bad drill as well, deaths have been reported from people not returning fire because they were subconsciously holding their finger off the trigger too long and it's easier to have a ND when your finger can slip down onto the trigger after an impact.
Safety is paramount, until it gets you killed, but I taught my students to keep their finger under the trigger guard until a valid target comes into view and requires shooting, it's harder to lift the finger up accidentally than let it slip down and just as fast to do it deliberately.
I had similar issues when I was teaching new shooters. My largest issue was a certain retired LEO who insisted that as long as you have enough experience, training beyond standard safety and usage was not needed.
Nevermind the 4 hours of "Shoot/Don't Shoot" and Legalities classroom training.
According to him, it wasn't necessary.
Then he wondered why I failed him. Especially as he only fired 144 on the practical when a 170 was the minimum for qualifying.
And most of the other attendees shot 190 or better.
In my experience, speaking as a retired Peace Officer...
Retired LEO's or military of any sort can be the hardest to teach anything to ;)
Having cleaned up a few ranges I was in charge of in various places and that MP's and the local constabulary shared with us, patching bullet holes in the ceiling and bullet tracks in the walls along with more than a few shot out lights and ventilated ventilators, I feel very safe in saying most are lousy shots too, one range was closed down because they lobbed a few rounds well over the backstop so far outside the template they landed on private property that was more than a mile away and well over 90 degrees off the arc of fire . In my department 'qualification' consisted of about 50 rounds once a year, anything else you did on your own time, sadly this is the norm for many and completly acceptable to far too many Officers who should want as much as they can get but don't.
My growing annoyance over the continual 'trigger discipline' yapping against people in obviously posed photos or cartoons still stands though. It's hard to depict an action flow in still shots and for all we know, our Ranger has a target lined up and is preparing to fire, but firearms experts have to hone in on an angle we can't really see and make smug observations on how the artist depicted it.
i have to agree with OldMorner here.. i do take TD into consideration of the shot.....but in active combat scenes your going to see people with fingers on triggers because.. people are going to die.
Both of my flatmates get them. Neither drive. One is blind.
(Ok, she has some slight amount of vision, but not enough to pass the driving eye exam with the best glasses for her ever. Also, no peripheral vision and one of her eyes never had a fully contiguous optic nerve.)
The really sad thing about those calls... yes, they do still get suckers. Dementia is a terrible state to be in.
Sure, the percentage of people that fall for it is really low, but the cost to place a phone call is incredibly low and once you have the equipment and everything to do it, the most expensive part is probably the phone call. 99.9% of people probably hang up on them early, minimizing their costs.
It's probable if we wanted to end it, we'd press the button for more information and talk to the poor people they've hired to work those calls, so that we increase their operating expenses. But I think 99.9% of people don't have time for it. I know I usually don't.
Never, ever, EVER !! press a button a recorded voice tells you to if it calls you, period.
The next thing you know, you find out that you just gave permission for your phone to be used as a relay for some third world long distance plan or to be charged $99/minute to listen to some overly long recorded spiel.
Next time, if you're bored and have time to waste, keep them on the phone as long as you can...ask questions, pretend you've never heard of such a wonderful thing, make them go into detail and explain everything twice, go into payment plans and 'what if's' LOTS of 'what if's'...the longer you keep them talking the less time they have to bother other people :)
My record so far is about 45 minutes with "hello, my name is 'William'(pronounced Weel-eye-ohm) and I am seeing you are having a problem with your WEEN-doze" when I was using Linux...
That works great on the guys (and girls) from India selling Viagra pseudo-clones but not so good on the computer run auto-dialers selling car warranties.
Never had an 'extended warranty' call, lots of "this is a call from bank security services (they never say which bank) saying there has been a suspicious charge on my credit card and to 'press 1 to fix it', and of course as soon as you press '1' there will be a suspicious charge...in a few minutes.
Tax time is coming up, pretty soon it's going to be the incessant "this is Revenue Canada, there has been a warrant for your arrest, press 1 to hear how to buy prepaid game and credit cards to pay your 'taxes' " RC doesn't call you, they send a registered letter, but I got an actual person once, they claimed the Sheriff would be sent to arrest me, the only problem is the Sheriffs here don't do that so I just said, "fine, I'll be on the porch with a couple of beers, we can compare badge numbers and seniority" then came the immediate 'click' from the other end :)
Anyone pulling that kind of scheme on people, particularly the elderly, should be hung up by their eyelids then kicked in the balls until they blink.
That's the solution! Goldie needs to stop attacking people in person, and instead start calling people offering extended service plans for their bodies!
Until recently I used to get extended warranty calls about about a drier I had owned which had been subject to multiple recalls due to that model's bead habit of catching fire at any opportunity.
I get fewer of the calls. I've started answering without saying anything and muting the call. And just holding the line until the other end disconnects. A human caller will prompt. Some of the fakes are getting better about that but usually you can tell that it's a robotic voice and you won't answer. They pay for the call once you answer but don't start the recording until they hear a human.
Wouldn't Gouldies left arm be the one damaged? That would be the one between him and the bike. The right arm with the gun is sadly uninjured.
I looked up Arizona's rules, I might be missing something but a 'classic car' plate is something like $10/yr after the first year, it doesn't seem to affect the ordinary registration though, it does here is why I was wondering, and the $3 for a 'veteran' plate here doesn't really save you anything either but it's not a bad idea..unfortunately people at large assume that you have to be a WW2 veteran to qualify for them and get mad if you aren't 90 years old when all it means is you served for more than a couple of years.
@alt text: *lol* I hope they use LunarCom and need to pay through their teeth for these calls...
@writer's note: oh? never would have insinuated such...
I need to sit and rethink things, you have just shattered my understanding of the cosmos...

I still feel the minimum score was too low.

Goldie just needs to say he got hit by a Harley Davidson. The boss will understand.
I will not allow snide remarks about Tokyo Rose's classic 1969 Buick. Whoopsie, my bad. It's a '96 Buick. In that case I recend my previous statement.
I hear they even call dead people.
The thing I can't figure out the ANGLE. I mean, when it was new, they probably got some suckers, sure, but they *KEEP GOING*....
What, is it just so insanely profitable that they can make money off the 0.002% of people who *might* still fall for it?

Even Goldie has some dings in his suit/armor. Too bad there aren't more on his HEAD! ;)

for those who don't want to look it up..
A verbose form of "Huh?"
Any chance we can gete a good straight on view of goldenrod in a vertical pose? I'd really like to use his visage as an avatar on a certain site.

I've ever received a single call. I get LETTERS from those morons that list cars I have not owned since 2004.
Just about all of my robocalls involve real estate scams and a certain political party wanting me to pay for (fill in the blank) .
Can we see a pic of this awesome 96 Buick? It may be the only one left running in the country. :)
