Cent ran into a problem with a video card (nothing drastic) which slowed down rendering, resulting in no page this week. I have some very heavy family shit going on, resulting in me not having the energy for a Stick Figure Filler page.
So, many thanks to Dianna Silver for this beautiful piece of art :)
I believe so. From what I understand, DAZ is designed to work with the Nvidia graphics cards. A non-Nvidia card (which is what Cent has) still works, but is not very efficient. Earlier, that was workable, but not ideal. As DAZ evolved the difference became more clear. Iray uses a bunch more graphics capacity, so it's more important that she use a Nvidia type card. In a nutshell, Cent wants to be able to make better scenes, but the render time for those better scenes, makes it impractical, so she wants to get a better Nvidia-compliant card. I could be wrong, but that's how I understand it.
If you don't mind me asking what gen card would you need to run DAZ? Would it take a 10XX or a 20XX or a 30XX? I'm sure the 30 series would be best but I think you can find a 20 series for a decent price. I currently am running a 2070. I think I paid about 500-600 for it. Still not chump change but better than 800. Anyway perhaps if you run a go fund me you might be surprised.
I have a patreon - the card i need is ASUS Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC Edition 12GB GDDR6 Gaming Graphics Card (PCIe 4.0, 12GB GDDR6 Memory, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, 2-Slot Design, Axial-tech Fan Design, 0dB Technology) this is a proven card. something on this level is needed to get render times down to 3dlight levels and allow me to create faster.
You have my sympathies and best wishes, @Tokyo Rose. @Centcomm gets (in my opinion) a lot of deserved support because she is often open about the troubles she is facing, while you don’t get as much because you are a quieter and more private person. But you are just as deserving and just as important, so please understand that you also have our care and concern.
So sorry to hear this Rose! Beaming good thoughts and vibes your way! There's lots of folks who care out here in reader-land.
(Funny note: trying to type this with not enough caffeine resulted in "There's lost folks who care" on my first try...)
Yes, it was intentional. Acantha did state in her telling Lynn about that moment that she was so miserable she didn't care if Nova Roma's scary, insane AI killed her or not -- and generally miserable little girls cry. A lot. ^.^
A small child who represents the possible future of the line of Livius and the good of Nova Roma, seeks refuge with the AIS whose mission, domain and duty is the good of Nova Roma.
She seeks refuge from her elder brother, also of the line of Livius, who is undermining Nova Roma, promoting brutality and corruption, and tearing its rule of law apart.
And the cookie - of all things - is all the evidence she has to offer that her brain is, in fact, not broken in the same way her elder brothers' brain is broken.
A meeting fortuitous for both, if fraught with peril and risk.
The problem with Decimus' brain was actually very small. Just a tiny part of it working incorrectly. Doctor Setorious - and probably a lot of other qualified people too, if they'd had access to the prince - could have fixed him right up with a quick, easy, mostly painless outpatient procedure involving a large axe.
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I have read the latest blog post and I'm popping out of lurking to say I'm so very sorry for your loss, Tokyo Rose. Thank you for all that you do, and for leaving a word and bravely sharing this with us. May peace be with you and your family in this time; sending much love your way. ~~~~<3
@Tokyo Rose, (and by extension, Mister Black), having read your blog post, I can say, that I know exactly how you feel. I didn't really know what you were going through before that. I have also had family members take that long dark path. It's one of the hardest things you'll ever face. Thank you for letting us know. You have my condolences.
Sorry to hear about your Mom, Rose. My Dad spent his last days in misery when he was awake and at peace when he was asleep. He finally slipped into a coma and died a couple of days later. It seemed wrong, but everyone was relieved when he died. He was at peace and the rest of us were able to move on.
My deepest condolences to you, your family, and your friends, TR. She is finally at peace and pain-free.
My grandmother went through something like this just over 2 years ago (yes, pre-pandemic), and it was an incredibly difficult thing to experience. It just reinforces my feelings of wanting to "cross over" on my OWN terms.
Okay, dunno if this is the best timing or whatever, but I'm gonna give it a shot because this is when I happened to plough through the archives (and it seems like it'd be better to do it on a filler page).
But basically I thought I'd share a few songs I thought you might like. Maybe they could help a little.
These first few are some songs by this one indie artist I like, they're all (IMO) at least *vaguely* related to the general theme of the comic. Starting with the most-relevant and moving to the least:
This next one's from another artist. YT vid, and come to think, also vaguely DC-ish. It's not really a music video so much as an... experience. Based on a game (DeltaRune), but you can potentially enjoy it, even if you don't know the source material, and IMO it might elicit some good laughs. =3
Head's up: It's been described as things like 'a real acid trip.'

But yeah, wanted to share even before I read the blog post. Thought I'd still share. Maybe it'd help?
lil'Acantha and her cookie - so precious...
I hope the graphics issue will be solved soon - and I really hope, the family issues are nothing serious, Rose...

Thanks, Dianna Silver, once again, for helping out!

@Evervigilant: D'aw, thank you too! To see you here tells me you are a reader of fine taste! ;D
Condolences to Rose.

*snif* *sniffle*
"...But in this case... I will make an exception."
(My sympathies and good wishes, TR and MB. She is no longer in pain, at least.)
The good news is that Cent has completed building the city scene for the next scenes.
