I would ASSUME that the 2nd speech bubble is something Ceci "sent" nonverbally to Dolly, so the Ranger would not overhear. They have to maintain the cover that she's human. But the speech bubble looks like talk instead of nonverbal.
So, a bizarre train of thought led me to this question long, long after the fact: Why is Dolly surprised by needing to sleep?
Dolly is still equipped with a synthbrain which, presumably needs whatever rest and refreshment activity any and all other synthbrains do. Dolly has other organic and biosynthetic components that, presumably need some kind of rest and refreshment to replenish resources and purge metabolic waste and toxins. But that seems like it would be rest, not sleep. So, if other synthbrain-equipped androids don't sleep, which parts of Dolly is it that actually mandate she periodically lose conscious awareness of her surroundings? And, if they do, then why would Dolly be surprised that she is still under the same constraint?
Ceci did say rest in the microbursts, but she used the word sleep when using normal speech at first, I assume, to "throw off" Logrin. She is supposed to appear human.

[yawn] And now I suddenly feel very tired...
