Dialogue can be tricky, especially in animation where not only do you have to make witty dialogue, but also make it relevant to both the setting, background and motion.
I really like that movie, and it has some beautiful scenes in it. Like "Once upon a december" is such a beautiful scene, both musically and graphically. What makes it even more potent, is that her father is dead, poor girl just wants her family back.
Ack .. but I'm rambling, I better stop now.
But if you get a chance to see Anastasia (from 1997), do it!
Cent proves there are no limits to her evil! She interrupts an entertaining conversation. I mean, it's not like anybody important's in trouble or anything!
Wall-o-text warning !
/start rambling :
I remember a documentary about the makings of the cartoon animation called Anastasia, where they discussed how the characters would sometimes carry one eachothers sentences, or cut one another off, rather than being static talking head completing one sentence before the other could talk.
It made the dialogue more .. dynamic, I guess?
They even did it in some of their songs, such as the "If I can learn to do it" song.
