Dolly used words and TALKED to another entity (classifying Dari as human would be insulting to the rest of the race though), so I think that qualifies as being social, Cat. :-D
Of course a rational intelligent Nova Roman security agent* might be dangling Ms. Badluck out there as bait to see what's biting during this time of exceptionally turbid waters.
Agreed. I mean that way she is presenting herself is somewhat stiff and officious.* Dari immediately thinks Dolly is a ranger or a cop.
*(Of course Dolly hasn't had much previous experience starting bar fights! Not to mention that she is going through a paradigm shift in her relationships with her Directives.)
I was going to offer up the Inigo Montoya quote here, but it doesn't quite fit the situation. Since she's only going to beat on her until she tells what she did with Lynn and who has her, and all.
For some reason I got reminded of a scene in Babylon 5 (from the episode "Ceremonies of Light and Dark") where the ranger Marcus tries to get some information from some thugs in a seedy tavern (much worse than "Breaker's"):
Thug: We don't talk to security. Why should we talk to you?
Marcus Cole: Because if you don't, then in five minutes, I will be the only person at this table still standing.
[Thug starts laughing]
Marcus Cole: . Five minutes after that, I'll be the only person in this room still standing.
Ten minutes later Marcus prediction has come true and he comments: "Bugger! Now I have to wait for someone to wake up. " :-)
*(And there is at least one.)
And a little inspirational input for you.*
