Speaking of elephants: Humans* are obviously fearful and envious of the android race. And not so subconsciously either! They expend a lot of socio-political effort to maintain the status quo.
The subject is a very cogent sub-text that gives the Over-Plot a lot of it's depth.
Thank you.
Well I can't really blame them seeing as how they have given up all control of their own breeding and are thus seem to being bred out of existence by the Neotrojan AIS. Unless you actually believe that 4% fertility rate is real. I sure don't.
A mind-rape victim who killed her serial-killing tormenter before he could inflict other such atrocities upon others sounds like justifiable homicide to me.
Stupid people. Sentients are sentients. Packaging is irrelevant. The guy needed a killing, dun matter that his packaging was human rather then android. Only saved an android my human ass.
I will point out that the "kill all the lawyers" is a line spoken by a character named Dick the Butcher in ''Henry VI,'' Part II, act IV, Scene II, Line 73. Dick the Butcher was a follower of the rebel Jack Cade, who thought that if he disturbed law and order, he could become king.
Remember that lawyers don't make the law. If the law is stupid or immoral, your complaint is against the law-makers, most of whom are not lawyers.
Law-makers make stupid laws, because many voters are absolutely stupid - they insist on racist, sexist or stupid laws, but don't foresee the consequences.
And then lawyers get blamed for the stupid things they have to do and say to implement these stupid laws you voted for.
*Mental note Shoot that lawyer in the Knee* I see even in the future the legal system still overlooks things in thier rush to punish people. Like the fact taht Psycho Had tortured and MURDERED More than 2 people. And yet they have to cast the blame not on him cause Oh noooo He was a victim of a murderious android..
No That guy was a murdering peice of Scum who in my opinion got off WAY easier than he would have Had I gotten my hands on him. I do not blame the person *and I consider any being with emotions like she displayed a person* For killing that bastard I blame him For not having found some way to get himself killed that did not force an innocent to have to do it.
*FYI I have no real faith in the legal system lately seeign too many criminals lately get off scot free while thier lawyers use sleazy tactics and worse to paint thier Victims as the wrong doers.*
wowsers .. you are right on all counts , murders like that do NOT happen all the time in new troy he took advantage of several "loopholes" in new troys systems ( ie staying near the ground levels - buying things with actual cash avioding flitters and others. it IS possable to go "off the grid" and stay in new troy its just difficult, the CP wants to blame someone. and well they cant prosicute a bloody sack .. New Troy medicien has redefined the point of "death" and she wanted there to be NO chance of resurecting this monster.
PS .. In addition Inhibitors are powerful devices. making free will a moot point. if Ray had not deactivated Kellys who knows what would have happened. most likely he would have escaped. rats are good at running.
A prosecutor's job is not only to 'prosecute' an offence but to ensure that the Law is consistently applied as written and if that means taking a case to court and arguing with an opposing side in order to receive a judgement or clarification, then that's what has to be done. Sometimes a criminal case is as much a forum to debate the applicability or limitation of a Law as much as it is to assign blame or decide punishment. I suspect there are times that a wise prosecutor knows they should lose in order to make the Law better and the Courts are the fastest way to get it done but they have to be careful to be seen as exploring all parts of it in their prosecution.
There are different levels of lawmakers, some of whom are or were at the time of writing those laws, at odds with one another; and there are different levels of interpretation which is why there are appeal and higher courts.
Lawmakers can always rewrite or amend a Law to make it clearer or to account for circumstances that weren't considered in it's original drafting but there has to be a trial case or other petition to show the need, and/or a judgement rendered to require the changes.
Some of the greatest examples of rights 'won' come from cases that were prosecuted under the Law 'as written' and lost.
Kelly's case may well be one of them in he making ;)
The Comments on this page blossomed after I went to bed it seems!
It brings to mind a thought. (gasp!)
Do you follow the webcomic Schlock Mercenary? They had a long story arc involving the "Partnership Collective" that sort of fits in with this pages discussion of the legal profession.
It seems the Elephants are invisibly thick today!

*(For more than one reason, I'm certain.)
But really, they're a symptom of a sick, unfree system. They are an extension of the State and its tyranny, as has been known for a long time:
"The Court must have ministers: the attornies are its ministers." 1766
