This is for amusment only - these were the "stats" for the RPG I ran for a couple of years. the "charcter sheets are not used "exactly" so people may or may not follow these exactly.
**OOC** this is in responce to yesterdays topics, it seemed more fitting to post here, As a GM, I can attest that Centcomm can be an evil GM from time to time... I have personal enjoyed gaming in the world of Datachasers playing as Marcus, its been fun helping to flush out this world of hers, and getting to know the characters that you see in this comic, Im lucky that I have had the opertunity to meet most of the characters that you have seen in the comic, interact with them.. some of them are good friends of Marcus. some of what you see in comic accualy happened in game... others are variations on story archs that we played on.. others are complet bastardizations of kinda happened.. ish... but never had an impact on the players of the game directly... after all this is Lynns story... Im just a bit part in a much greater story.... this is part of the reason that a lot of the characters you see here are so.... real.. is because a lot of them were played by real people.. or as our game master.. Centcomm, she has woven a world that is beautiful, terrifying.. and some times.. a bit depressing in what we as humans have done to our home over the centuries... but... but to Marcus, this is home... and I have enjoyed my bit part in helping shape this world of hers in to what it is...
Currently in the story - three players made it in -
Marcus - played by "Marcus" here on CF
Dr Silver - Played by Dawn ( whos posted once )
And "Mister Lambert" whos played by Roses Husband.
All of them created the charcters useing Spacemaster rule set, The game ran for quite a while. and after much thought the RPG charcters were "written in" to replace nameless charcters.
Yep they are.......Sorta......Pre JEssica Alba Dark angel Manticore people ;) Or as some of those uh....odd folks in japan call em Kitty-girls.
And to poke back to the last subject of pnp. In real life yeah....Such an impact owuld be a ELE impact btut he earth would survive..... My gm at the time though well...apparently took some liberties to emphasize how BAD a Roll of a 1 on a skill roll could be when in a crunch position.
oh I dont doubt it, and I wasnt trying to nash on you- I think he wasnt aware of a fwe limitations of a jump ship :D, played B-tech for many years - and mechwarrior. the pure RPG. and yes a 1 is very bad - but I dont think its a "earth killing crit" so more im disagreeing with your GM not you :D
Heh in this system when you crit out - something bad CAN happen. like shooting your own foot or your friend. or just the weapon goes poof, ( breaks ) or it simply jams...
yeah well my gm was a real....well ASS like I said in mech warrior missed shots on a 1 = civi casualties...
Remember that Taraque I mentioned. The main warrior rolled a 1. on an attack...So instead of cleaving the beast...she sliced the paladin standing near her in half and lost her grip on teh blade so when the beast got a free attack as she tried to grab it it flattend her
*also hands MArcus A sniper rifle modded to heck and back and TD a small SMG both Stamped with the name "Jacobs" as manufacturer and says
Remember...if it took more than One shot...you were'nt using a JAcobs!
Love that this world started as an RPG background. Another writer I know of used roleplay to figure out how particular scenes in a story might go, to make the writing more realistic: Robert Shroeck, in his great crossover fanfic "Drunkard's Walk".
What's the system y' all used for your roleplaying in this background?
actually - it started out as a comic . then became a RPG setting - the system started with "hero-games" but that wasnt effective so we moved to Spacemaster. and thats used all the way. some of the game terms made it in the story like "mark numbers" for weapons and such.
I would have thought you could have gotten GURPS to work for this too. I played in something that had SOME of the elements of your comic (20 years ago) using that. Worked pretty well, until everyone moved away from each other.
i didnt like some of the elements in gurps also Hero games "champions" ( the original ) is pretty much what gurps copyed so they are the same. spacemaster had the right level of leathal combat and rules sets with a minimum of player obnoxiousness..
Hmmm... I admit to some similarities, but they weren't really the same systems. Champions was designed to simulate comic book combat. Where people got back up after being beaten on.
I found in GURPS (trying to remember now what, if any, house rules we had) that wasn't the case. I promise there were LETHAL weapons in that. Remember one of the NPC bad guys putting an AT round through the transport we were riding in, and through the station I was sitting at in said vehicle. Was NOT a fun time. :-p One smoking corpse later I got to work on getting ANOTHER character together. Of course, several people had to after that the transport crashed (wasn't rated to take that kind of attack).
When we tried Space Master, none of us could figure it out. And all of managed to go to college and graduate, several with honors, so I don't think any of us was that stupid. :-D
SM can be very daunting. we modded it and streamlined it a lot. makking it far simpler and fast. I also love the fact that ANY level charcter can KIIL any level charcter in litterally one hit. ^_^

Worlds without.
Always more,
Have no doubt!
Of course, they could be of Manx ancestry...
EDIT: They do! Oh my! Guess I'm getting old and slow.
I do know what would make a very fine voting incentive.
