Terri's still fighting with the new system. It seems to be up to me to put the pages in the update queue. Babbage have mercy on my soul.

PS: See the blog for exposition on the terms used here.

Nice office !

I think it would be useful to start a glossary, to explain such words like Chokushi, Shikome, Yasakani, etc.
Dianna Silver 1st Apr 2013, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

Chokushi = the city-state of Shinedo's equivalent of New Troy's White Angel. Shikome = Shinedo's equivalent of a Black Angel. Yasakani is one of the three AIs that run Shinedo (unlike New Troy, etc, where it's one AI, Shinedo is run by a trio working in concert with one another. Maybe kinda like the NERVA supercomputer in Neo Genesis Evangelion.) and those three AIs each represent one of the National Treasures of Japan, the Mirror, the Sword and the Jewel.

At least, that's my understanding of things mentioned so far.
cattservant 1st Apr 2013, 4:44 AM edit delete reply

"..assigned to Yasakani the Jewel..."
So our dynamic duo are civil servants?
Dianna Silver 1st Apr 2013, 9:11 PM edit delete reply

Well, TR will have to actually explain what exactly that makes them, but to be honest, even being assigned to Yasakani isn't their *real* purpose . . .

Androids need glasses?
velvetsanity 1st Apr 2013, 6:06 PM edit delete reply

It's actually fairly common in Japan to wear glasses as a matter of fashion/style, regardless of whether they're needed or not. Though it's usually women who do so (because a lot of guys think "girls with glasses" are cute)
antrik 8th Oct 2016, 1:21 AM edit delete reply
Do guys *really* think so? My impression is rather that *girls* think glasses are cute, and are projecting this on boys...

I for my part don't think *anyone* -- boy or girl -- looks better with glasses; very much to the contrary. Some girls are pretty enough that they look decent even *in spite* of wearing glasses -- but that doesn't change the fact that they are way, *way* prettier without...
Speedy 8th Nov 2016, 11:28 AM edit delete reply
I think it's more that glasses are equated with intelligence, and intelligence is sexy.

Sunglasses often have the opposite connotation, but apparently there are still people out there who are attracted to a lack of intelligence. Or, maybe the future is just so bright, that they've gotta wear shades.
velvetsanity 23rd Nov 2016, 1:10 PM edit delete reply

Actually, "girls with glasses" really is one of Japan's oddball fetishes.

Geez Louise! Is that her uniform?! If it is, she probably was the one who picked it out! ;D

Soo is he planning a human Transmutation with that alchemical symbol on his screen?
Dianna Silver 1st Apr 2013, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

>.> No, not really. As mentioned, he's into symbols and what they mean.
KarToon12 1st Apr 2013, 3:37 PM edit delete reply

I like it when the narration kind of breaks the fourth wall. XD
Rashala 1st Apr 2013, 6:14 PM edit delete reply

weeeelll Rose is the narrator sooo she tends to say Walls what walls
cattservant 1st Apr 2013, 7:20 PM edit delete reply

She transcends walls, especially 4th ones!
Tokyo Rose 1st Apr 2013, 9:29 PM edit delete reply

Some people complain when the narration leans on the fourth wall to the point of falling through it. I'll take it as a compliment that you aren't one of 'em ;)
velvetsanity 18th Apr 2013, 6:29 AM edit delete reply

Necessary exposition is something that kind of requires breaking the fourth wall...
Speedy 8th Nov 2016, 11:38 AM edit delete reply
Well, this IS what used to be Japan, and the walls are made of paper. I'll be disappointed if ALL the walls don't get broken. ;)

That looks like Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog. The other looks like Zakooie from the Banjo Kazooie game.
