She adapts quickly!

[Or if you can't avoid it, own it!]
velvetsanity 24th Jun 2013, 6:34 PM edit delete reply

Oh, good, it looks like he *is* going to take his share of the responsibility after all.
Stormwind13 24th Jun 2013, 6:58 PM edit delete reply

Yeah. Marcus screwed up too. I was kind of wondering if he would kick himself off the 'bridge' too.
He lost focus on the mission, got locked in on the ONE element (fixing Ceci)... and that could get them killed. Still might in fact.
The difference here is that Marcus realizes his mistake, Princess Pouting doesn't.
Sheela 25th Jun 2013, 3:43 AM edit delete reply

Then again, lots of smugglers around who might smuggle data as well - They may still be able to conceal it as something else.

In fact, Marcus might have just the kind of data needed for something like that. Dr Silver might add a little something, something as well that involves noodles. :D
Marcus Ramesy 25th Jun 2013, 6:52 AM edit delete reply

Its not a mater of screwing up or not.. its a mater of I had Dr. Silver do something, and it needed to be done.. the factors that Mr. Black is taking in to consideration are the same ones I did as well.. but deemed it as "acceptable risk" frankly .. we are a very very large target.. and any thing that would be interested in us.. already can see us.. and if they were interested.. they would have already started to nose around.. or will.. better to get this part taken care of.. what was not considered was.. this *IS* his ship more or less and he does have say on what happens on his bridge, an over-site on my part in not letting him know what was going on (in the sense of classified data) and not fully understanding what Dr. Silver was going to need or need to do to get the data to CeCi..(I.E I wasnt aware that Dr. Silver was patched in to the coms on the transport) Mr. Black wants her off the bridge so Him and my self can talk with our her interrupting (wich she is good at) as for beast logging all the data, yes.. that is a very real possibility.. but.. would require a LOT of specialized equipment... and some serious code breaker tech, which he does have access to and then.. he would need to know what he was looking at... in the end all he would get is the morality framework that Dr Silver uploaded.. and a no longer working password.
Stormwind13 25th Jun 2013, 2:15 PM edit delete reply

Well by squawking that way raised your visibility WAY up to anything within a couple hundred miles of you (considering that the signal had to be rock solid for at least 100 miles, distance to Joleet).
People that were just seeing a tramp hauler now might take a GREATER interest in you. Mr. Black is good at misdirecting people, making them see what he wants them to, not what is really there.
The 'good' Doctor cracked Mr. Black's carefully constructed camouflage, maybe.
The brevity of the transmission MIGHT be enough to keep anyone from pinpointing them. No idea how many people have radio tracking equipment up and running, but anyone with it nearby has a decent chance to have gotten a fix on them.
So I think Marcus did screw up, partly through ignorance. Still you shouldn't have been OVERLY surprised by Doctor Silver breezing into disaster, since you know her (and her ego) pretty well. If a star was around, you would be likely having skin peeled from your ears, in my opinion.
Ah well, done is done. If you live, hopefully you learned something. If you don't survive then maybe someone else learns from it.
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:49 AM edit delete reply

Yah marcus is a decent person dispite his love of needling Silver. Silver doesnt like to admit mistakes. Black is not someone shes used to dealing with. and Black has a low tolerance for things that might endanger his well being. :D
cattservant 24th Jun 2013, 6:38 PM edit delete reply

[Not a serious question, but I wonder how Beast 'feels' about Connie?]
Centcomm 24th Jun 2013, 6:49 PM edit delete reply

Beast doesnt really have emotions shes a Virutal intelligence .. basicly a "smart chip" not a true intelligence.

( totally serious answer ^_^ )
cattservant 24th Jun 2013, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

Connie might feel a little like the new girl on the block.
Sheela 25th Jun 2013, 3:44 AM edit delete reply

I'm wondering, could Connie connect directly to the Beast ?
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:51 AM edit delete reply

she actually can not. She does not have a pilot rig , Ada does. that allows interactive links and pretty much makes flying the ship instinctual. although shes used to flying things that are far far more adgle
Rashala 24th Jun 2013, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

*does a Centcomm network search for After action reports....Comma Silver. Comma Bucket And posts it all over the local web
Stormwind13 24th Jun 2013, 6:59 PM edit delete reply

I think most of their missions have been Black Ops of one kind or another... Probably NOT in the general database.
Sheela 25th Jun 2013, 3:46 AM edit delete reply

Any mission that requires Dr. Silver's expertise, is missions that have already gone balls up.
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:52 AM edit delete reply

nope most of her "missions" are highly classified. and not ALL missions shes been on have gone "balls up" :D
Marcus Ramesy 25th Jun 2013, 8:57 AM edit delete reply

the first mission was supposed to be a milk run, just babysit a high profile doctor, wanting to test out her new toys... yea... milk run....
Sheela 25th Jun 2013, 3:20 PM edit delete reply

I wasn't hinting at her missions going ballsup .. but rather that any mission needing her, had already gone balls up .. to some degree at least.
Dragonrider 24th Jun 2013, 7:28 PM edit delete reply

OK how about we get the lowdown on how much Mr. Black knows, and why do I feel like he is tied in with the Luna network?
cattservant 24th Jun 2013, 7:33 PM edit delete reply

Luna shines on a lot of places, I think.
Sheela 25th Jun 2013, 3:45 AM edit delete reply

I suspect that Mr. Black is tied in with Mr. Black.
The rest just thinks they are tied in with Mr. Black. :)
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:53 AM edit delete reply

I can safely say without spoilers Mister Black is not connected with Luna, although he does "know a guy"...
Stormwind13 15th Jul 2013, 5:29 PM edit delete reply

I think Mr. Black knows and is KNOWN by about the entire planet. We should call him Bob! :-D

Now a lot of them don't know him by the same NAME, but they do KNOW him. :-D The smart ones probably run away, QUICKLY.
dougwarner59 24th Jun 2013, 7:36 PM edit delete reply

favorite line: conversation over!. there is no defense for that move!
lalverson 24th Jun 2013, 8:04 PM edit delete reply
Very captainy..comes in handy when it's your ship.
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:53 AM edit delete reply

that is the atom bomb of argument enders.. too bad it works SO rarely with Dr silver.
Fairportfan 24th Jun 2013, 9:20 PM edit delete reply

Ummm ... what did she DO with "that bucket"? Was she annoyed with him at the time?
Sheela 25th Jun 2013, 3:41 AM edit delete reply

She probably had to pee and poop in it.
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:54 AM edit delete reply

hehe wait till next page..
velvetsanity 24th Jun 2013, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

"Shower the size of a linen closet"...that's more than a lot of haulers have, I'd wager
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:54 AM edit delete reply

YUP well most long distance haulers have SOME amenitys .. much like modern aircraft.
velvetsanity 25th Jun 2013, 3:32 PM edit delete reply

modern aircraft generally don't have bathing/showering facilities LOL :D
ge2org 25th Jun 2013, 1:47 AM edit delete reply

what bucket? i'm curious now!!
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:55 AM edit delete reply

arent we all ! :D
Stormwind13 25th Jun 2013, 2:20 PM edit delete reply

Well since she was talking bath, then shower and complaining about the small size... I'm guessing they had a stream and bucket to clean up with. I'm sure Silver would LOVE that.
cattservant 25th Jun 2013, 5:59 PM edit delete reply

I suspect any open water in the Wastes would be a poor choice to bathe in or ingest!
Stormwind13 25th Jun 2013, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

Might have been an underground spring bubbling out and therefore clean; otherwise, maybe they boiled it or ran it thru a still to purify it. Straight out of a surface source though, you are undoubtedly right. It wouldn't be a good idea. :-)
cattservant 25th Jun 2013, 6:21 PM edit delete reply

Give a whole new meaning to the concept of mineral water!
Don B. 25th Jun 2013, 6:05 AM edit delete reply
Am I correct in assuming the face on the holo display in panel one is Beasts avatar? If so, she's a beauty named Beast (I see what you did there). ;)
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 6:13 AM edit delete reply

you would be correct ... and yes . congratz your the first one to notice :D although "beast" refers more to the craft ( the one he normal uses. ) and the "persona chip" is a diffrent model. but he still calls it beast. :D
velvetsanity 25th Jun 2013, 3:34 PM edit delete reply

Just because I didn't comment doesn't mean I didn't notice ;)

(I was too busy being amused at it having a female avatar and *still* being called 'Beast' LOL)
cattservant 25th Jun 2013, 6:00 PM edit delete reply

What she said!
CyberSkull 25th Jun 2013, 8:57 AM edit delete reply

"Living in the wastes" and "bucket" conjures very not-fun messy images in my head.
Shotgun15 25th Jun 2013, 9:06 AM edit delete reply
I learned a long time ago (at a bit of personal cost) as you prepare to do what you have been ordered to do, no matter how many options you see in ways to get it done, present your best-case options for accomplishing the Mission and have the Commander choose the one to use.
Since the inviolable rule is that the Commander is responsible for all his/her troops do or fail to do - and may well also have additional options to consider - is to present your plans and go with the one chosen by the Commander.
I have found that the best way to go in Nurse-to-Doctor plans for patients as well.

Datachaser's has fallen back to 70 on TWC, get out and VOTE people!!!
(I don't have any more computers to vote on, today)
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

I think I changed it ( the TWC incentive ) - also its closing on the end of the month >_<
Don B. 25th Jun 2013, 4:03 PM edit delete reply
What is closing on the end of the month? I'm not sure what you mean.
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 4:06 PM edit delete reply

the Top web comics list resets voting at the end of the month so all comics start at zero votes. Datachasers was as high as 66 and now its been superseeded back to 70. :/
velvetsanity 25th Jun 2013, 5:07 PM edit delete reply

It hasn't changed in a week or two. and the Luna Star one hasn't changed in foreeeeveeeeer
Centcomm 25th Jun 2013, 5:13 PM edit delete reply

huh,,, i need to fix that..
highlander55 25th Jun 2013, 5:57 PM edit delete reply

<Pssst- don't look at Staff and Sword then. 394- yikes>
cattservant 25th Jun 2013, 6:03 PM edit delete reply
