Finding out things about Teedee now. :-)

And first. :-D I don't think that has ever happened to me.
Centcomm 27th Jun 2013, 7:33 PM edit delete reply

congratz!!! :D and yes you are..
velvetsanity 27th Jun 2013, 7:49 PM edit delete reply

Personally, I think she just needs the strengths of her body pointed out to her, from a tactical standpoint. Such as how much easier it is to take on an opponent that's underestimating her. And the agility and maneuverability.
CyberSkull 27th Jun 2013, 8:58 PM edit delete reply

It sounds like a good idea, but I don't think it will work with her. She wants a frame that is as powerful as it looks.
Tokyo Rose 27th Jun 2013, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

She does have the tactical sense to understand the advantages. She's just furious enough right now that she doesn't care. It's like if you custom-ordered a sports car, but find yourself taking delivery of a high-performance engine inside the body shell of a screaming-neon-green-and-pink SmartCar. Yes, you can go 0 to 60 in two-point-four seconds, stop on a dime, and outmaneuver a fighter jet, but while driving normally down the road, you look like a complete twit.

Some people might not care about the appearance and focus on the performance. Some might be quite resentful of looking like a twit. Others might feel resentful at first, but after calming down some, realize they can drag-race for pink slips and walk away with every souped-up car in town; this may or may not drown out their dissatisfaction with the looks of the thing.

Teedee's probably the latter.
CyberSkull 27th Jun 2013, 11:12 PM edit delete reply

I'm just saying she wants to be the big metal engine of doom she knows she is deep inside.
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 5:34 AM edit delete reply

Wait till she sees those Colossi in the throne room in Nova Roma!
velvetsanity 28th Jun 2013, 5:09 AM edit delete reply

To use your car analogy, Rose, Teedee's an RX7 that wishes she were a '69 Charger. Put them on a road course and the RX7 would eat a charger alive no matter how you modify the Charger. But on the drag strip the Charger would destroy an RX7 (a factory stock RX7, that is...which she's not, considering the combat chassis/frame under her bioplastic skin).

a small package of plastique (or even TNT, for that matter) makes a really big kaboom.

And I just accidentally discovered Teedee's theme song LOL
Thomas 18th Apr 2014, 6:49 PM edit delete reply
Well I guess you would know wouldn't you Rose?
Hornet 28th Jun 2013, 7:17 AM edit delete reply
Definitely, fighting her would be like handling a cat in a burlap sack.
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 7:32 AM edit delete reply

It's not so hard once it's *in* the burlap sack .. getting it in there, however ...
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:19 AM edit delete reply

better bring some bandaids and medical insurance :D
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

And getting it to come back out!

[Thanks for the avatar change inspiration.]
Tokyo Rose 29th Jun 2013, 7:24 PM edit delete reply

I was going to ask how the cat would've gotten YOU into the sack to begin with . . .
cattservant 30th Jun 2013, 12:07 AM edit delete reply

The old Kitty Curiosity Maneuver would work...
highlander55 27th Jun 2013, 7:55 PM edit delete reply

That is one pissed off lady.
Stormwind13 27th Jun 2013, 8:00 PM edit delete reply

That's no lady, that's Teedee! Don't let her hear you insulting her like that, or you might be her next punching bag!
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:20 AM edit delete reply

exactly :D
Mayyday 27th Jun 2013, 7:55 PM edit delete reply

God DAMN, her knuckles! That's what gloves are for, yeesh!
Centcomm 27th Jun 2013, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

TD is mad that she would even NEED gloves.. >_<
Stormwind13 27th Jun 2013, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

I really like this page. The angles of view and way they both are presented, plus the story that is being told between them. Great page.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:20 AM edit delete reply

danke - I do try :D
Draginbeard 27th Jun 2013, 8:00 PM edit delete reply

Wow, she is damn near blind to anything but her rage. That's a hard and lonely road.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:20 AM edit delete reply

yes it is .. one Ada tries very hard to kepe her off of
highlander55 27th Jun 2013, 8:04 PM edit delete reply

For prospective, Just think if Osimo was told he would be a Terminator. Foooled Youuu!
Don B. 27th Jun 2013, 8:07 PM edit delete reply
Dolly had kind of the same problem with her original choice of body frame. Who knows how she might have turned out if not for the Taylors. She was fairly reasonable about her situation though, with fairly sound alternate plans. TeeDee, on the other hand, seems to have been frustrated at every turn. Hopes and dreams denied...ouch. I don't believe that's the whole of it though. Also, I think she's about to discover that the frame she finds herself in isn't as weak-ass as she thinks.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 6:36 AM edit delete reply

actually .. Dolly was quite happy with her original body.. the Contract broker was not happy. :D
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 6:40 AM edit delete reply

Even so, it was originally meant to be only an interim body, so she could pay off her body debt faster and save up for a better one quicker. Well, and get some extra skills and upgrades as well.

Though she probably became quite attached to the body over the years.
Don B. 28th Jun 2013, 7:02 AM edit delete reply
Considering how long she inhabited it, I'd have to say your right. besides, after all the upgrading the Taylors put into it over the years, I'd bet that any similarities to it's original factory condition was mostly cosmetic anyway.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:21 AM edit delete reply

your quite correct. by the time of the start of the comic Dolly had almost NO OEM parts left .. :D
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 12:07 PM edit delete reply

Were any of her upgrades .. off the book ?
Y'know, upgrades that if CentComm saw them she'd go "huh? never seen one of those before?" like she did when faced with Dolly's new body.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 12:26 PM edit delete reply

Dollys old body? it had a lot of eyebrow raising mods.. but nothing really out there. Dolly wasnt one for ignoring the laws and had very little to do with black market - so pretty much everything was known and approved.
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 12:37 PM edit delete reply

What would an "eyebrow raising" mod be ?
Well, apart from the obvious mod that lets you raise your eyebrows. >_<
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 1:40 PM edit delete reply

She must have been childproofed at the very least.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 3:18 PM edit delete reply

one example are military Power packs in addtion to her normnal power systems. also hidden weapons such as a fold out stunner or shotgun. ( If you are talking about Dolly )
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 3:21 PM edit delete reply

Oh? ... Dolly's old body was weaponized ?
Don B. 28th Jun 2013, 3:35 PM edit delete reply
Stands to reason. There was at least one incident of heavy violence in her time with the Taylors. She's something of a legend as The Taylor Guardian if I'm not mistaken.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 3:46 PM edit delete reply

her legendary status comes from not only one but MANY foiled plots on the taylors. shes guarded and raised 3 total generations. and shes served as head of security for the taylors all though calliopes life. ( head of security and Nanny /mom ect ect.. ) Dolly adores the Taylors. and takes her "family" very serious. and her friends. Its this level of devotion thats earned her the rep.
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 5:48 PM edit delete reply

Will we ever see a flashback to one of those episodes ?
Centcomm 29th Jun 2013, 6:37 PM edit delete reply

perhaps :D
Centcomm 29th Jun 2013, 7:37 AM edit delete reply

yes it was, most of the weapons were close quarters and protective mods. such as a internal shield emitter, blade, and I mentioned the stunner and shotgun .. :D
Sheela 29th Jun 2013, 6:22 PM edit delete reply

oohh ... the blade sounds nifty.
lalverson 27th Jun 2013, 8:39 PM edit delete reply
Her and Durshanni would get along great. Neither and human and they are both tiny containers of whoop ass.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 6:35 AM edit delete reply

Durshanni?
lalverson 28th Jun 2013, 10:23 PM edit delete reply
Durshanni Blackhearst a five foot flat elf in my imperium in the scout service. She's more known on that "Other" site.
Sheela 29th Jun 2013, 1:39 AM edit delete reply

link ?
Centcomm 29th Jun 2013, 6:36 PM edit delete reply

I agree .. LINK :D
cattservant 27th Jun 2013, 8:47 PM edit delete reply

Ada said that Teedee wanted to be a combat drone when she was little. Looks like Teedee is still mad because CentComm wouldn't let her do it.
Tokyo Rose 27th Jun 2013, 9:44 PM edit delete reply

Teedee's in the kind of mood where you total up every tiny slight, intentional or perceived, and stew about them all at once. Even if you've previously gotten over some of them.
cattservant 27th Jun 2013, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

I've lived with someone who 'remembers every small detail' for almost forty years!
Marcus Ramesy 27th Jun 2013, 10:16 PM edit delete reply

you have a sister too??
cattservant 27th Jun 2013, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

Wife actually. She keeps the Cats intimidated!
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:22 AM edit delete reply

=^-^= MEW!
ranger_brianna_new 27th Jun 2013, 11:41 PM edit delete reply

As an experienced martial artist--I can tell she's punching wrong. (At least, for a human--this specific limitation might be invalid for an android.) If she were punching correctly, only her middle and index finger knuckles would be red from the impact; your pinkie and ring finger knuckles are not supposed to make contact when you punch something.

Is that intentional, or coincidental?
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 6:35 AM edit delete reply

Little of the artist not knowing .. and well you can write it off as shes punching wrong.. yeah . thats it :/
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 6:42 AM edit delete reply

Well, think of it this way.
If you never had skin on your hands, you'd never need to punch in a certain way.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:22 AM edit delete reply

thats my story now :D
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 8:59 AM edit delete reply

Ack .. you stole my story ?
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 9:04 AM edit delete reply

yes I did .. thank you for that .. heres a cookie :D
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 9:13 AM edit delete reply

cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 9:48 AM edit delete reply

The Comments are just full of useful nuggets and tasty treats!
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 10:26 AM edit delete reply

Treats!! <3
Novus 29th Jun 2013, 5:57 PM edit delete reply
That bit about her punching wrong isn't actually quite right. What you're referencing is a general rule but not a universal thing and is very much dependent on the style of fighting used. As a matter of fact, though unintentional I'm sure, the specific pattern of redness on her knuckles(and the side of her left pinky finger in panel 2) looks like she's been practicing moves out of a more circular martial art such a Baguazhang. Many of these arts deliver backfist strikes that would leave such a pattern on her knuckles. Other arts like boxing also put less emphasis on striking with those two knuckles, as the gloves will spread the damage out regardless.

Also...Yes I read the tooltips. I've read every single one of them I think. Drove my OCD totally bonkers when I ran into two strips that seemed to not have them!
Centcomm 29th Jun 2013, 7:09 PM edit delete reply

thats really cool ... makes notes :D
mjkj 28th Jun 2013, 2:38 AM edit delete reply

Awww...

Poor Teedee...
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:22 AM edit delete reply

nods well to be truthful shes not looking at the situation with her eyes open.
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 6:21 AM edit delete reply

Silly story time!

---

TeeDee punches a hole in that damn bag, right after saying "undersized, underpowered, weak-ass, crappy baby-body"

Ada looks askance at TeeDee and asks "Underpowered ?"
Then points at the hole "weak?"
"And you damn well know there's some real good advantages to being small on a battlefield. Big targets always attract big fire, remember ?"
"Arrgh," TeeDee groans, "yes 'mommy', I get it, I get it."

"Good, now give me your hand so I can repair the skin. We all gotta start somewhere and we both have a long road ahead of us." Ada admonishes
"Riiiight, all that crap about how the longest journey begins with but a single step. Possibly dubstep." TeeDee whines

"TeeDee!" Ada says in surprise "Was that a joke?"
"What, NO!" TeeDee bursts
"It was, it was .. you found a sense of humor in there!" Ada giggled.
"Ah damn, I have been found out." Teedee chuckles, "what do you think I should do with it?"

"Hmmm," Ada thinks for a bit, "Use it to come up with a good practical joke on CentComm?"
"Fuck yes!" TeeDee says, "can it involve killing her again ?"
"Sure, whatever you want." Ada finishes with the hand.
"Heee he he he he." TeeDee cackles in glee, "Oh this will be good!"
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 6:34 AM edit delete reply

wow .. you captured both of them NICE job :D
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 6:35 AM edit delete reply

Thank you ! :D

The idea was - What's worse than an angry TeeDee ? Answer : An angry Teedee with a nasty sense of humor ! :D
velvetsanity 28th Jun 2013, 7:56 AM edit delete reply

Your "silly" stories are quite well done. ^_^
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

Thank you. :)
Tokyo Rose 29th Jun 2013, 7:26 PM edit delete reply

Oh shit, Aeneas infected her with a meme!
velvetsanity 30th Jun 2013, 1:06 AM edit delete reply

And they've never even met!
Sheela 30th Jun 2013, 6:02 AM edit delete reply

Woot !

Someone noticed the Aeneas meme. :)
KarToon12 28th Jun 2013, 6:40 AM edit delete reply

Maybe she didn't hate Ada so much as she hated the job she got saddled with?
Centcomm 30th Jun 2013, 6:53 AM edit delete reply

most assuredly .. Ada is a hard person to hate.
MikeLinPA 28th Jun 2013, 7:11 AM edit delete reply
Can't she just refinance her contract and buy herself the chassis she wants?
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 7:36 AM edit delete reply

The mission she's going on has "human looking" specified, so she's stuck with it .. for now, at least.

Plus, buying a new body is expensive, hence why she asked how expensive Centcomm's Doll was before shooting it in the head.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:23 AM edit delete reply

Her replacement body is still waiting for her. "after" this mission.
Karyl 28th Jun 2013, 7:28 AM edit delete reply
I like all the alt texts!
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 7:37 AM edit delete reply

He he .. yeah, they can be good ... and yes, we read them.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 8:23 AM edit delete reply

sometimes I wonder :D
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 8:56 AM edit delete reply

Dear Authartistor,

The story feels so real...too real; it's creepy.
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 12:05 PM edit delete reply

The good stories always do. :)

They're also always too short and end too early - No matter how long.
Centcomm 29th Jun 2013, 7:49 AM edit delete reply

we do try for realistic dialouge - if your talking about the comic :D
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 1:45 PM edit delete reply

You're right .. I have fixed it. :)

Oh, and I apologize for breaking your mind. >_<
Stormwind13 28th Jun 2013, 1:59 PM edit delete reply

Thank you. And no worries, it is only a little mind, nothing important to break. :-)
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 2:08 PM edit delete reply

What did I break ?
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 3:03 PM edit delete reply

Just making my rubble bounce!
Rashala 28th Jun 2013, 1:57 PM edit delete reply

ANd here I would have hoped CEntcomm would have BRED OUT the pedophiolke gene by now

Also

I would have given Tedee a private security Contract As she was/is No pedo crap cause No offense....But lock her and adozen combat droids in a room... only She is coming out ten seconds later cause the droids will wet themselves
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 2:06 PM edit delete reply

Difficult to breed something out, when it's not controlled by the genes.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 2:09 PM edit delete reply

wheather or not the person was or wasnt - its a mental illness. and technicly being after a "cute/sexy" version of TD would get the same reaction even if the person was perfectly normal.. so you cant really trust her on this totally .. she might be blowing it ojut of perportion.. New troy is VERY protective of children..
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

Resource micro-management at the very least.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 3:16 PM edit delete reply

exactly.. Killing or Hurting a child or Abusing a child are all considered MAJOR crimes and dealt with very swiftly and harshly. ( not saying it CANT happen ) just saying its not a happy thing.
Sheela 28th Jun 2013, 3:25 PM edit delete reply

Not much different from the real life western world then.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 3:53 PM edit delete reply

you arent far off wrong there
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 5:42 PM edit delete reply

Was TeeDee unusually small originally*, or just in proportion for qualifying for Mil-Sec?

*(If so, why?)
velvetsanity 28th Jun 2013, 6:03 PM edit delete reply

Probably originally, unless I miss my guess. I suspect it has to do with her self-image and why she has this overwhelming need to *look* big and bad-ass.
cattservant 28th Jun 2013, 6:19 PM edit delete reply

But don't the androids get to choose their initial body style?

Then they work for a certain term to pay off their body-debt.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 6:50 PM edit delete reply

Some of a andriods phyiscal features. height, general build, facial features and such are internally and subconsciously picked they arent even aware they are doing it. these selections are taken into count with each body. and very rarely will they alter a body plan :D
velvetsanity 28th Jun 2013, 6:53 PM edit delete reply

So it is a matter of self-image. Which means that likely Teedee sees herself as a very little person in a big wide world. Likely feeling very vulnerable (and possibly even inferior) and the desire to look big and badass stems from a desire to protect/armor herself against the big scary world.
Centcomm 28th Jun 2013, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

:D < no comment > ^_^
Tokyo Rose 29th Jun 2013, 7:31 PM edit delete reply

Teedee is a lot more complicated than she herself realizes, let's just say.
cattservant 29th Jun 2013, 8:34 PM edit delete reply

One of CentComm's special side projects?
Tokyo Rose 30th Jun 2013, 1:49 AM edit delete reply

No, I just meant she's a complicated person. Cent had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with her creation on any level.
cattservant 30th Jun 2013, 4:15 AM edit delete reply

But she (CentComm) does take an active interest in her career though?
Especially after TeeDee shot her out of a Doll!
Sheela 30th Jun 2013, 6:05 AM edit delete reply

CentComm was not responsible for the creation of TeeDee ?
Then where did her seed come from ? Aeneas ?
Centcomm 30th Jun 2013, 6:31 AM edit delete reply

Teedee is one of thousands of "random seeds" that are created in batches. she really didnt have any higher pupose other than a job..

Ada is the same , So is Dolly. none of them were created "by Hand" by cent. Cella ( a white angel ) and Ceci were created by centcomm personally ..
cattservant 30th Jun 2013, 10:49 AM edit delete reply

But, CentComm keeps at least general track Android Affairs doesn't she?
Marcus Ramesy 30th Jun 2013, 12:33 PM edit delete reply

why would she need to?
cattservant 30th Jun 2013, 12:37 PM edit delete reply

To provide a little gentle encouragement for the outstanding ones?
Stormwind13 29th Jun 2013, 1:26 PM edit delete reply

And back down to 66, though in a tie with Freefall. I've voted already today.
velvetsanity 30th Jun 2013, 1:09 AM edit delete reply

Tied with Freefall? Careful, better make sure Sam Starfall isn't getting votes at a five-pseudopod discount!
Rashala 29th Jun 2013, 1:28 PM edit delete reply

Funny thing is We all know as much as Tedee Growlsl and snaps at Ada She does care about her.

Bit off topic here, It appears New Sparta was Edmonton AFB.
Centcomm 30th Jun 2013, 10:47 AM edit delete reply

you are quite correct :D - many of the current citys were military or industrail zones that werent vaporized :D
highlander55 30th Jun 2013, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

Lets see if I have this close to being correct! New Sparta was Edmonton AFB in CAN.(Haven't really seen much yet so no idea what it is like Governmental wise) Nova Rome is near/ on Prince Edward Island in CAN and is a Roman Empire with a dictatorial regime. And New Troy is a Mysophobic Republic in what was originally the Colorado Springs area. Maybe the USAF Academy. (Just putting it out there since there's some down time here)
Centcomm 30th Jun 2013, 3:35 PM edit delete reply

New Troy was build on the center point of NORAD. Sparta is a dual system one for the collages and one for the "citizens" and is best described as a "military goverment" its laws are very well enforced and they actually have a low crime rate. white collar as well as regular types.. New troy the main crimes are Blue collar and computer crimes.

This page could have been written by Warren Ellis, which is the highest compliment I am capable of giving. I adore Teedee.
Centcomm 23rd Jul 2013, 11:13 AM edit delete reply

yay thank you ! :D
xpacetrue 5th Apr 2014, 5:11 AM edit delete reply
Is it logical for Cent-Comm to discriminate androids against Mil-Sec duty based on size? Is size everything? What about reader comments on being faster and more agile?

For that matter, if Teedee was desperate for military duty, why didn't she go for a strong or large-frame body to begin with? And are sparked AI's forced into a certain gender role based on how their personality turns out? Or is their gender chosen for them? Do androids have a choice in the matter?
