Maybe, But it is also part of her outlook of herself. Something that is no longer there is some part of her ID that is gone! Like a Cancer survivor maybe!?
Awww, poor Connie *hugs her* getting volunteered like that...
Ah, well, that seems like the right time to address the Reload Trauma (or the reload trauma stress syndrome?) that especially Teedee seems to have. I wonder though that Ada is coping so good...
Yeah Connie seems so disappointed in Mr Black ... she had hoped he was better, and would respect her for who she is and not treat her as a machine, or worse, as property.
As for Ada coping, she did get what she wanted, so there's less disharmony to deal with.
also Due to Ada almost crashing during reload Dr. Silver "clipped" the affected memorys thus removing the issue for Ada her "memorys" stop right before the crash not during or after. unlike TeeDee. TD showed no signs of trama during reload so Silver had no idea.
Sheela: I don't think Black is treating Connie badly. Marcus stuck his nose in and neither Black nor Connie have had any time to adapt to the new situation. At the very least, Black hasn't had a chance to clear up any misconceptions Connie might have. I'll bet that he rectifies that very quickly. He seems a man of strong ethics and I don't think he gave Connie her freedom just to treat her as another machine.
Maybe so, but lets not forget that his main line of work is smuggling. He may not be quite as nice as most seem to think, somewhere under that polished appearance, there's gonne ba some hard edges and an iron fist of some sort.
That said, I don't think he's a bad guy either, he's ... just not quite up to the standards of her imagination.
But then, few can live up to being put on a pedestal.
Marcus is also a "authority figure" being Mil-sec and due to fairly deeply ingraned "tradition" you dont argue with people that can shoot you. or that run the city defense. hes WAY above her pay grade, after all she was a glorifyed customs inspector. she feels really out of place and a bit intimidated by him.
what threw her was his apperent surrender to Marcus telling him "Fine" now that put Connie on the spot - she says no she looks like a coward. or worse. she really wants to make a good impression.
Oh .. I read the "fine" like when a wife says "fine" to her husband ... he damn well *knows* things aren't 'fine' and she'll have her revenge on him real soon, even if he haven't figured out what he did wrong.
I get the feeling that Mr. Black has a tendency to tell someone one thing and then do whatever he thinks is RIGHT. So agreeing with the Major might not be as cut and dry as one might thing.
On the previous page, panel 3 Mr. Black tells Connie to "Come talk to me later and we'll go over the details." I wonder if those details MIGHT completely change the way things go as far as Connie is concerned.
You know, I don't really notice the shadows in this comic much. Probably because they are done well enough that they seem natural so I don't get a !!! moment where I think they don't look right. I like what you've done with them In panels 2 and 4. Nice contrast and sets the mood just right. Also I seem to have missed the pattern on Veronica's dress up until now. It's the little things like that makes it all the more worthwhile to browse the archives to see what else I've missed. I've gone through the entire run no less than six times since I discovered Data Chasers. Like all of the good stories I've read over the years, once isn't enough.
actually - Ill claim responsibility for her shirt whoops. the shirt looked fine form the front BUT I didnt check it from all angles. and when im shooting i guess i just happened to grab ALL the angles you can see down her shirt. her nipples are actually flattened, its a light trick that makes them look otherwise , my apologys >_<

Third panel of Teedee, Not even an A cup size? No wonder she was so pissed at rebirth. Looks like she is a pre-pub.
[RE: TeeDee's lack thereof; What Ada asked when she first woke up in 3C Recovery!]
Besides, she's such a pretty little boy. :D

Hard men can be hard to cope with, even if they're wearing silken gloves. *sage nod*

As for the shadows, they are almost best when you don't notice them, because the focus should be on the characters, and not their shadows.
Well ... sometimes at least.
[I think her SLTs are having illusions of grandeur, given their relative size to their surrounding location!]
