From a non-expert opinion; It amplifies the emotional level/content of the characters.
I could easily read/enjoy a story in this style. Something like historical vignettes of the back story to Data Chasers' present story lines. (perhaps)
general responce.. Nither Datachasers nor Luna Star will be changing artstyles.. any time soon. this is for a unrelated project.. but wanted to get a opinion on what people thought of the "hybrid" CGI / art look..
It's nice, I like it. I bet it would work great in a dark / nitty-gritty sort of setting.
Maybe not Sin City sort of nitty-gritty, but more, general-detective-nitty-gritty levels ... sort of the environments that The Spirit by Will Eisner would run around in. :D
As others have said, it would be a bit jarring if your current comics switched to it, so it's good that you're not, but I think it can work dang-well as a style for a new comic, and this test-run is what I'd call a total success. :)
Has a very cell shade but still black and white drawing look to it. I dig it. It reminds me of one of the artists that used to do a lot of stuff for Heavy Metal, trying to remember who.
This is really cool. I can almost hear Galina recounting this dark part of her story, while the camera slowly zooms in to, or pans across each panel. I don't know what they call it, but it's like a pseudo-animation thing.
I was like, "They stylized the photos, but they still look so much like the real life actors... Wait a sec..."
It reminds me of some artist from way back, but I can't remember his name, dammit.
