anarcha 31st Jul 2013, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

This page flashed me back to "The Wild Wild West," cool 60s show that helped in warping my mind. Thanks!:)
highlander55 31st Jul 2013, 6:25 PM edit delete reply
I was thinking of Wyatt Earp tv show.
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 12:23 AM edit delete reply

hehe - I remember that show..along with many many others ..:D
Dragonrider 1st Aug 2013, 3:01 PM edit delete reply

When Senator Pastori got the anti violence stuff going on about TV shows Robert Conrad had two shows cancelled, this was one of them and he swore Pastori had it in for him personally.
Sheela 31st Jul 2013, 6:27 PM edit delete reply

I'm guessing that Pyre (the character, not the player, may he rest in peace), is an android ?
But what sort of android ?
Don B. 31st Jul 2013, 6:36 PM edit delete reply
A very, very dangerous one, I'm thinking. TeeDee might need to take notes from this one.
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2013, 6:42 PM edit delete reply

Well anyone that is still alive after being involved in schemes with Mr. Black HAS to be dangerous. :-D I mean, that is a GIVEN. And they have be some kind of CRAZY too, if they are willing to go back into the fire with him again. :-D

Speaking of fire... If he is an android and is named Pyre... Is he some kind of firebug? :-D An android that likes to play with fire could be... interesting.

TeeDee could tell him about burning up and he would be like... Fire is so exciting. :-D Not sure if that how THAT might work out, but could be VERY bad.
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2013, 6:44 PM edit delete reply

Not sure he is an android though... The note on the page, "Yes Hes Human" seems to say he isn't.

Sure doesn't LOOK human though... Not with those eyes. Mutant of some kind? I guess it could be some kind of cyberwear, but it sure looks freaky.
Sheela 31st Jul 2013, 8:34 PM edit delete reply

Damn, I had missed that detaiol .. human, huh ?

... oooorrr .. half human perhaps ?
ranger_brianna_new 31st Jul 2013, 8:35 PM edit delete reply

I was thinking genetically modified, myself, given as how he didn't look cybernetic in nature.

...That, or he's SO cybernetic that he's more machine than man, and the description is a bit inaccurate. :P
Sheela 31st Jul 2013, 8:48 PM edit delete reply

Could be part alien too ... haven't seen much to those yet.
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 7:53 AM edit delete reply

There arent a LOT of aliens in Datachasers .. you have seen 2 in the comic one you have actually seen and the other only via a radio - ( The Cryians ) Those are pretty much the only races that will be seen in the first arc.
Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 8:07 AM edit delete reply

Just because we haven't seen them, doesn't mean they aren't around though.
In fact, they might be very good at being sneaky - Especially if they're not really supposed to be there, but still want to keep an eye on humanity's development.
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 12:25 AM edit delete reply

Yes Pyre is a Mutant. born in the wastes..
cant really say TOO much at this point. but he picked his own name.
TheSkulker 17th Dec 2015, 7:56 AM edit delete reply

Pyre, as in Funeral?

mjkj 31st Jul 2013, 10:56 PM edit delete reply

Wow, nice one - I like the alt text here ... almost spoiler-esque
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 12:25 AM edit delete reply

I expected people to think Pyre wasnt Human...:P
Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 6:37 AM edit delete reply

*tries to look innocent*
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 8:09 AM edit delete reply

mjkj 1st Aug 2013, 8:29 AM edit delete reply

Well, at first I was unsure if he is or not - but then I read the alt-text...

Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 8:31 AM edit delete reply

Whaat ?

But I'm being *so* sincere, right now!
Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 6:38 AM edit delete reply

Oh hey .. that vote thingy seems to be working again - Rank 32. :)
velvetsanity 1st Aug 2013, 7:39 AM edit delete reply

Ooooh...we need to celebrate Top 50 status!
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 7:50 AM edit delete reply

If we are still under 50 in 2 weeks THEN you can celebrate .. :D
Don B. 1st Aug 2013, 1:10 PM edit delete reply
Top 50! Movin' on up! Data Chasers deserves higher. Let's make it so.
JustNoPoint 1st Aug 2013, 6:48 AM edit delete reply

He could at least wear brighter clothing to not look so menacingly shadowy! :P
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 7:05 AM edit delete reply

hah- that was his prefered colors .. black , black and more black. and he liked Metal.. the growly kind. >_<
Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 7:10 AM edit delete reply

On the bright side, he'll be very sneaky on night missions.
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 7:50 AM edit delete reply

whats funny is he had horrible stealth skill.. >_<
Marcus Ramesy 1st Aug 2013, 8:14 AM edit delete reply

I miss him....
Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 8:33 AM edit delete reply

Well, on the bright side, you get to bring the bit of him you carry inside to the fore, and let people see what a swell guy he was.
A bit of an opportunity there to tell an interesting bit of story. :)
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 8:35 AM edit delete reply

yep .. thats exactly why they were included :D
KarToon12 1st Aug 2013, 7:08 AM edit delete reply

Pyre is cool and a bit scary at the same time...D:

And the player who made him passed away? I'm so sorry...:(
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 7:19 AM edit delete reply

Hes a really cool Charcter. adding him to the active Charcters in DC is kinda a nice tribute I think. He passed away about a year and some change ago, the player that created Kira survived him. as well as his son.
Sheela 1st Aug 2013, 8:33 AM edit delete reply

Tributes are neat.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of the character. :)
XRzer04 1st Aug 2013, 8:00 AM edit delete reply
Pyre looks like a member of a postapocalyptic '80s synthpop band. He'd fit right in at a Skinny Puppy concert. The black/red look and the name lead me to believe this one can do things with Fire...
Centcomm 1st Aug 2013, 8:21 AM edit delete reply

Hmm - I forget what the player was into music wise all I know was that it was growly metal..
Marcus Ramesy 1st Aug 2013, 9:35 AM edit delete reply

he was in to a lot of things.. old metal, viking metal, german metal, heavy metal.. and every thing in between..
mjkj 1st Aug 2013, 1:38 PM edit delete reply

Oh, Wow rank 51...
Stormwind13 1st Aug 2013, 2:29 PM edit delete reply

Everyone vote! Go club people and use their smart phones/IPads to vote. :-D

I swear with some of the numbers showing up, someone is doing SOMETHING even worse than that to get their rank up. :-p
velvetsanity 2nd Aug 2013, 8:13 AM edit delete reply

Some of the top comics are deserving. But others...

I'd suspect the artists of some of them are running server farms to spam votes :P
Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2013, 2:06 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I have a problem with how quick some of them get past 1,000. I mean, I can believe some of them vote totals are real; however, if they get a huge push and then drop way off. Sounds suspicious to me to say the least.
velvetsanity 4th Aug 2013, 7:33 AM edit delete reply

Oh, one in particular consistently stays in the top 5. And it's a perfect example of why so many people dislike cg comics. :P
AlpineBob 4th Aug 2013, 5:52 PM edit delete reply
I don't see any CG comics in the top 5 right now. The closest is #13. But just because a particular comic isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean they have to cheat to get votes. Some people have strange tastes. Me, for instance; I used to read TMI regularly. But I got bored with it a few years ago...
AlpineBob 4th Aug 2013, 6:01 PM edit delete reply
I know there are voters that tend to vote a bunch in the first week or so, when it can make a big difference, but vote less and less as a month goes on. Me, for instance - so far this month I've got 13 legal votes in for DC & Luna. (I had over 20 by day 4 of July, but I have less free time this month.)
But I can't maintain that for a whole month and taper off. Sometimes I don't vote at all on the 31st...
Centcomm 6th Aug 2013, 5:32 PM edit delete reply

I really appreceate the votes you give DC and luna - it makes me very happy when people do that :D

Thank you :D
AlpineBob 4th Aug 2013, 6:07 PM edit delete reply
It does strike me as strange that only one comic I enjoy is in the top 10 (It used to be two, but Goblins dropped precipitously when Tarol dropped the vote button from his page), but I just remind myself that people are strange, and tastes vary. I do vote consistently for my favorites, which is about all I can do...
AlpineBob 6th Aug 2013, 5:23 PM edit delete reply
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but you can only get one level of reply in these comments, so even though I replied to three different comments above, they all end up in the same place. That probably happens to other people, as well, making it harder to keep a thread of conversation going.

So, this is basically a suggestion that you consider allowing replies at least a three or four deep...
Centcomm 6th Aug 2013, 5:31 PM edit delete reply

well one thing is your useing a guest ID-
making a comic fury account is free and you dont have to have a comic to have one .. you can also subscribe and that helps Datachasers popularity :D

im not sure if a guest is treated diffrently than a account. but its worth a shot. :D
AlpineBob 7th Aug 2013, 10:58 PM edit delete reply
AlpineBob 7th Aug 2013, 11:14 PM edit delete reply
Don't think that's it. You made a "Thank n my You" reply to one of my replies above, but yours wasn't indented any further than mine, and you, presumably, have an account.
But it obviously ain't a biggie since no one else seems to have noticed.
