Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 6:33 PM edit delete reply

thank you SOOO much! i dont know what i would do without you guys!
Sheela 4th Sep 2013, 12:27 PM edit delete reply

Oh, I suspect you'd do just fine. :)

As for me, I'm lurking a bit myself, these days too ... just started a new job.
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 12:29 PM edit delete reply

Ive missed your insiteful comments and witty convo :D congratz on the new job!
velvetsanity 3rd Sep 2013, 6:08 PM edit delete reply

Ow. That looks painful.
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 6:33 PM edit delete reply

oh it is ,.... tons and tons of pain.
Mayyday 3rd Sep 2013, 6:10 PM edit delete reply

Oh man, panel two there looks PAINFUL.
Stormwind13 3rd Sep 2013, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

Everything past panel one looks painful. Things like that aren't going to stop hurting quickly either. :-p
jamie59 3rd Sep 2013, 6:10 PM edit delete reply

SPRITE.INI!?! Please don't tell me she's running on windoze.
Stormwind13 3rd Sep 2013, 6:12 PM edit delete reply

Not even CentComm would be THAT evil, Jamie! :-D
Stormwind13 3rd Sep 2013, 6:11 PM edit delete reply

That doesn't look good at ALL. But Marcus is still directing things... Almost like a conductor overseeing his orchestra (1812 Overture anyone? :-D)
anarcha 3rd Sep 2013, 6:17 PM edit delete reply

sprite.ini -- is this like windoze 'safe mode'?
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 7:02 PM edit delete reply

its refering to the "sprite body" and the "striker" combat package.. both are seperate things untill the softwear is activated.
highlander55 3rd Sep 2013, 6:18 PM edit delete reply

Marcus must have a build like Ceci to be able to hit like that and not have any damage to his knuckles.
Stormwind13 3rd Sep 2013, 6:32 PM edit delete reply

I'm wondering how much those gloves helped out there, highlander. Somehow he did a lot more damage to her hand than she did to his (that we can see at least). It almost looks like rippers were installed or something from the damage pattern on her hand.
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 6:44 PM edit delete reply

the gloves helped but he also has "strike plates over his knuckles" TD does too but hers are covered in bioplastic and it simply burst on the impact. even andriod hands arent designed for that kind of punishment. Marcus is a tank. shes NOT :P

At Highlander - yes him and Ceci do have a lot in common :D
highlander55 3rd Sep 2013, 6:45 PM edit delete reply

I didn't think the gloves would have any consequence. Her knuckles would have split like that due to tendons and bone structure. Check out Tech,, Black Angel, Hand and you will see the tendon (Steel?). That is what cut thru the skin. His gloves could be a special material to prevent that like his suit. Unless Centcomm will step in and offer canon.

BTW Storm- not saying your wrong or I'm right. Just a matter of opinion.)
CyberSkull 3rd Sep 2013, 6:46 PM edit delete reply

While I'm sure the gloves helped, I'm betting he also has quite a few after-market mods to keep him on superior ground to various mechanoids.
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 7:01 PM edit delete reply

his mods are top of the line military hardwear :D
Antonious 3rd Sep 2013, 7:13 PM edit delete reply

With emphasis on HARD wear.
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:21 PM edit delete reply

*lol* so true - I wonder what will happen when the gloves come off...
Marcus Ramesy 3rd Sep 2013, 7:33 PM edit delete reply

the nature of my cybernetics are still classified, but I will tell you that this punch would have hurt like a bitch if it wasnt for the DAS system allowing for the pain to be shunted/shut down I took damage, but the damage was superficial damage to the skin and tissue, the gloves realy had nothing to do with any thing, they are just that.. gloves to the real magic is the cybernetics underneith.. as for the strength behind teedee and my self, at this moment in time.. we both have the same strength... with the sprite frame I had her put in to and the striker package she is faster and stronger than she was before the modification process.. this also makes her lighter and not able to stand up to a brute force attack... her frame is a good frame but its not the kind of frame that can take a lot of punishment like mine can.. the whole point of this is to redirect her attention away from soft targets and to hopefuly get her to start to intagrate to her new body and be shown that its not as bad as she thinks it is
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:42 PM edit delete reply

Wow, thanks for the extensive explanation, Marcus.

I hope TeeDee sees it the same way - and not feel inferior because you got all the good packages and she hot the pink meat frame...

I hope it does not backfire...
ranger_brianna_new 3rd Sep 2013, 11:40 PM edit delete reply

Wasn't expecting an answer this in-depth. Nice to have, though!
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 5:50 AM edit delete reply

we aim to please :D
Pirtnac 4th Sep 2013, 12:24 AM edit delete reply
So, TeeDee is getting the pokemon treatment at the moment. Blunt force trauma to get her used to her abilities.

Hmm, complete with "TeeDee, use Sprite!"
Marcus Ramesy 4th Sep 2013, 2:18 AM edit delete reply

sorry I havent been able to post as much to this segment as I would love to.. ive been getting set up in my new location... just moved to Charlotte NC and just getting things in order trying to get a car.. and traveling a LOT.. so hopefully I can start posting up regularly again..
Sheela 4th Sep 2013, 12:32 PM edit delete reply

I believe there was some discussion about wether or not TeeDee actually knew how good her body was.

Small fast targets are hard to hit on an actual battlefield. Her new body has lots of advantages.
Oldarmourer 21st Jun 2019, 8:40 AM edit delete reply
'sap gloves', packets of powdered lead sewn over the knuckles, both cushion the impact on the hand and protect it to a good extent while adding some serious impact to the strike, a win-win accessory.
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 6:44 PM edit delete reply

Well, it seems Marcus has the better equipment and insight.

So DAS and strike are offline - I think that translates that she is stunned.

What does the sprite.ini do?

Indeed, poor Ada, just had TeeDee's hand fixed...

PS: great update :)
highlander55 3rd Sep 2013, 6:47 PM edit delete reply

mjkj, That was Doctor Silver making that comment I believe.
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 6:53 PM edit delete reply

Oh, yeah, sorry, since the rectangle is white and not colored I think you are right...

PS: rank 58 and rising, it seems... :)
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 7:00 PM edit delete reply

it has a thin blue outline - thats silver's bubble :D
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:06 PM edit delete reply

Ah, thank you for the clarification. :)

...and her speech rectangle's blue outline fits so well into the shield sparkling background... :)
highlander55 3rd Sep 2013, 7:16 PM edit delete reply

@ mjkj- LOL on blue line blending into shield. Oops!!
Gotta give Centcomm some slack as she is packing kit and caboodle and getting ready to move as well as running both comics.
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:23 PM edit delete reply

Hey, I was just saying it fit nicely. That was not meant to put CentComm down or anything.
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:16 PM edit delete reply

Oh, and Marcus makes TeeDee look like a greenhorn...
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 7:20 PM edit delete reply

well in her favor its more like a vetran cop and a military special forces guy duking it out. also Teedee is kinda crippled right now as well due to her own stubborness..
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:27 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, especially with her undealt reload trauma. But that does not help how it looks...
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 5:49 AM edit delete reply

well hopefully this will get resolved soon :D
CyberSkull 3rd Sep 2013, 6:47 PM edit delete reply

All that advanced tech and they still use DOS .ini files? For shame Centcom.
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 6:51 PM edit delete reply

its more a reader convention tool to give you a frame of refernce .. I could have but a bunch of techno-babble up there but this soundeed better.
highlander55 3rd Sep 2013, 7:04 PM edit delete reply

Centcomm- at least you don't give database tech using SQL Server software like SQL SVR 2008 R2. That would be a bit deep.
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 7:24 PM edit delete reply

yeah Sql can bite me .. that crap is confusing i figured this would get the point accross nicely
CyberSkull 4th Sep 2013, 4:35 PM edit delete reply

You should never store functional code inside a database. That's just all kinds of wrong and problems.
CyberSkull 4th Sep 2013, 4:34 PM edit delete reply

Many systems use a facility explicitly for loading modules. So something like
LoadModule Sprite.moddesc

…would be a believable command.

So having a popup like:
TACCOM: Do you want to run LoadModule Sprite.moddesc?

…would be quite believable and not really tied to any current tech either. ;)
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 5:45 PM edit delete reply

see this is where my readers are smarter than I am :D but I like that .. I might have to steal it :D

BUT also would the other readers understand it ?
CyberSkull 5th Sep 2013, 3:00 PM edit delete reply

That's why I suggested it. ;)
ranger_brianna_new 3rd Sep 2013, 11:42 PM edit delete reply

Centcomm hinted at it, but I imagine that it's much like the translation convention--they're not actually speaking English; we just perceive it that way. So it's not actually a DOS .ini file; we just perceive it to be one.
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 5:47 AM edit delete reply

thats exactly true. with lingual drift proably NONE of the charcters save centcomm ( and other AIs )and perhaps a FEW humans even know actual english. the DOS commands are just there for the readers to help understand whats going on :D
Sheela 4th Sep 2013, 12:38 PM edit delete reply

.... not enough memory for OH_CRAP.EXE to run.
Gntltch 22nd Dec 2015, 9:40 AM edit delete reply
First - Ini files are not unique to DOS. They have been used since day one in Windoze and other OSes and are still used today for non-DOS applications

Second - Loading an INI file is NOT the lingua franca of computerdom. One loads an executable which may or may not look for an ini file. Load sprite.exe would have been better but is too OS specific. CyberSkull's suggestion is best. It is perfectly understandable, correct and generic enough to still be OK in 3800+.
cattservant 3rd Sep 2013, 7:05 PM edit delete reply

A few more applications of the 'two by four' and he will have this Mulette's undivided attention!
Centcomm 3rd Sep 2013, 7:21 PM edit delete reply

YES -- exactly!
mjkj 3rd Sep 2013, 7:30 PM edit delete reply

*lol* - nice one.
someone 3rd Sep 2013, 10:03 PM edit delete reply
There is actually a similar punch block in reality. You block with your elbow straight on (as in you elbow strike the incoming fist while you do a soft block to guide it into place). it's like semi vs car, poor fist doesn't have a chance.
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 5:49 AM edit delete reply

I didnt know about the elbow block - but I know this one will break your hand .. if it wasnt made of metal and Myomer :D
Marcus Ramesy 4th Sep 2013, 6:40 AM edit delete reply

and even then it still hurts
Draginbeard 4th Sep 2013, 6:38 AM edit delete reply

The camera angle on that 4th panel is perfect!
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 12:29 PM edit delete reply

YAY - those are actually hard to do and get looking right .. this whole fight is a learning experance :D
KarToon12 4th Sep 2013, 7:31 AM edit delete reply

Panel five is scary as hell! D:
mjkj 4th Sep 2013, 7:40 AM edit delete reply

Yup, TeeDee's red eyes are showing again...

...and not to forget the blood...
Centcomm 4th Sep 2013, 12:30 PM edit delete reply

huh.. really not really sure how its scary - shes actually backing off :D
Stormwind13 4th Sep 2013, 4:30 PM edit delete reply

Because she is backing up, CentComm... Not backing DOWN! :-)

And demon eyes are ALWAYS scary, especially when there is blood flowing... That is when they are at their worst. :-D
VanEzzania 4th Sep 2013, 5:51 PM edit delete reply

JustNoPoint 5th Sep 2013, 12:01 PM edit delete reply

This is going all according to her plan. Cause Teedee totally seems like the planning type! [/sarcasm]
