Tokyo Rose
These are the AIs of Shinedo, and essentially of all Nippon. From left to right: Kagami the Mirror, Kusanagi the Sword, Yasakani the Jewel.

(They look a bit different when not violently threatening a stone lantern, jumping naked into a pond, or throwing up down a well.)

There they are,
All fine and fancy!

[Could that be
a red eyed Dragon
that I see?]
mjkj 4th Oct 2013, 6:22 AM edit delete reply

No, I do not think so. That red dots are its nostrils. Its eyes are mostly hidden by Kusanagi's head/hair.

I guess the only one showing up with red eyes there would be Rose :)

Cthulhu fhtagn !
velvetsanity 4th Oct 2013, 10:42 AM edit delete reply

Those are its eyes. The black dots a little lower and closer together are its nostrils
mjkj 4th Oct 2013, 5:27 PM edit delete reply

Ah, yeah, sorry, I think I got its orientation wrong - I thought up was his mouth, red dots its nostrils and the yellow at Kusanagi's head its eyes; but if its mouth is front, behind Kusanagi's head, then the red dots are its eyes...
Dragonrider 6th Oct 2013, 7:08 AM edit delete reply

I would call it a Wyrm the Far East embodiment of the Draconian form.
plymayer 4th Oct 2013, 12:19 AM edit delete reply

Lovely ladies. All three of them.

Lived in Misawa for three years. Unfortunated did not see or learn as much as I could have while there. Was constantly deploying to this submarine or that one. My exe wife saw more of the culture but was not really interested.
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2013, 5:03 AM edit delete reply

Very nice Rose. Thank you for sharing them with us. :-)

Does not "The Sword" have a lovely color coded rectangular amulet necklace too?
Tokyo Rose 4th Oct 2013, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

Y'know, now that you mention it, maybe I'll throw one on her too. Snazzy :D

I say we find them some alcohol.
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2013, 7:25 PM edit delete reply

Only if you want Tokyo Rose to hunt you down and hurt you SLOWLY, Jamie. :-D

Now if were to leave some alcohol out and they were to get into it, you might escape punishment... Wouldn't be TOO confident of that though. :-)
Rashala 5th Oct 2013, 1:51 PM edit delete reply

I'd say only give booze to yasakani.....unless you are into puke....or...well Havign to run away from a katana wielidn woman convinced you insulted her honor and swinging wildly

From what I've seen so far, even the low end chassis for androids/A.I. have faces that look human enough. So why do these three look like they stepped out of an anime movie? Was it because of their designers or did they choose to? Maybe they lost a bet with Tokyo Rose? Kusanagi looks like she's daring the camera man to try something. That pose and expression would make a great resin statue.
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2013, 7:18 PM edit delete reply

Probably a culture thing, Don.

The blog indicated that Nippon (Japan to the West) is more advanced in their androids. Both in technology (though I'm not sure if that is completely true now, with Dolly 2.0) and socially where they are often treated the same as humans.

Their appearance can be stylized though, depending on fashion trends. Currently it is in vogue and may have been in vogue when Tokyo Rose put a face to them.
cattservant 4th Oct 2013, 7:39 PM edit delete reply

I'm not sure they spend much time in physical bodies either.
So their styles may suit their moods quite freely.
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2013, 7:47 PM edit delete reply

Their mood, or Tokyo Rose's mood, Cat? :-D She seems to make things come out the way she wants it to, more often than not. :-D
cattservant 4th Oct 2013, 8:28 PM edit delete reply

Very good question!
To what degree
Are the Lovely Ladies
Independent iterations*
Of the indomitable Ms. Rose?
As 'Triple O'** as she has been
Recently revealed to be,
The Question could be defined as
How much of 'all this' is
Ms. Rose 'playing with herself'?***

*(She refers to them as 'her girls'.)
**(Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent
to a discernible degree!.)
***(She certainly has the time and resources
to indulge herself quite elaborately!)
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2013, 8:37 PM edit delete reply

LOL. That was WONDERFUL put, Cat. You might get SKINNED for saying it, but it was wonderfully put. :-D

And points out our (the readers) quandary. We know Rose is up to a bunch of different things. We lack enough information to know for certain though what Rose is capable of, what her limits might be (if any!).
Tokyo Rose 4th Oct 2013, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

That sounded terribly filthy ;)

As noted in the blog bit, the Treasures are three networked, but basically independent AIs; they divvy up the responsibilities. (There are subordinate AIs in other population centers in Nippon, but they all tie back to the Treasures.) Tokyo Rose occupies a somewhat obscure role as far as the average citizen is concerned--kind of like the NSA. She's out there, she's considered part of the government, she does stuff, but most people couldn't tell you with any degree of certainty what role she actually plays. Tokyo Rose is given the credit for developing and building the Three Treasures, but then, she's also given credit/blame for the price of commodities, random weather patterns, and the fact that you didn't win the lottery today. A few suspect that Tokyo Rose and the Empress (yes, there is one) are the same person, with either Tokyo Rose being a front for the human ruler or the human ruler being Tokyo Rose's puppet. Speculation is healthy for the mind.
cattservant 4th Oct 2013, 9:31 PM edit delete reply

Did it? >^~O^<!

[I wouldn't be surprised if there more than a few shrines dedicated to her.]
Sheela 4th Oct 2013, 11:30 PM edit delete reply

Wait, wait ... Tokyo Rose playing with herself ??

Stormwind13 5th Oct 2013, 4:57 AM edit delete reply

Did it sound filthy, Rose? Well then Cat was probably on track, right? :-D

And interesting the speculation you bring up. I submit they ALL are true (yes, she is to blame for people not winning the lottery, because she has rigged it. And of course she controls the weather). :-D

I wasn't expecting all this when I posted my original comment but that's OK. You guys keep me interested in coming back to this comment section. Most people I know aren't interested in these kind of discussions so it's nice to find a place where I can have them. Without trolls and the like even. So thanks for that. Looks to me like the question of the Treasures appearance is gonna be one of those unsolved mysteries that seem to follow Rose around even if she may actually have nothing to do with it. Probably an occupational hazard for her...
cattservant 4th Oct 2013, 8:39 PM edit delete reply

Maybe if we ask politely phrased questions
We can lure out an expert opinion! >^OO^<!
cattservant 4th Oct 2013, 9:00 PM edit delete reply

All this philosophizing brings to mind
A question about the difference
Between Cent-Comm and Tokyo Rose.*

I tentatively propose
That Cent-Comm is an Engineer,
(basically analog oriented.)
And that Tokyo Rose is a Designer,
(basically digital oriented.)

[I also point out
That the capacity
For super intelligence
Is also the capacity
For super boredom!]

*(And isn't that a deliciously
up against the 4th Wall question!)
Sheela 4th Oct 2013, 11:31 PM edit delete reply

What is Aenas then ?
cattservant 4th Oct 2013, 11:58 PM edit delete reply

The nephew of his aunts and uncles.
Stormwind13 5th Oct 2013, 5:26 AM edit delete reply

Aeneas is currently, terribly confused. :-)

Now when Aeneas gets his head put back together he'll probably be... a musician. "Then you'd turn on the radio. And sing with the singer in the band. And your mama would say to you. This isn't exactly what she had planned." :-D
Aetrun 5th Oct 2013, 5:28 AM edit delete reply
At a guess, Warrior- designed to run off of basic instructions (analog) with an adaptation to more flexible (digital) thought when crises arise. It might also explain why he has actually managed to hold together somewhat despite his damages. The basic subroutines that were designed to function instinctively still are, and the higher thought processes can make corrections whenever a connection can be made. The parallel to a human would be as if you got locked inside your mind and watched it perform basic functions and could barely alter routine behavior. You wouldn't be good for much interaction even if all higher thought processes were still functional (or mostly functional in Aeneas' case).
Sheela 5th Oct 2013, 3:31 PM edit delete reply

Musician ?
Warrior ?

... musician + warrior = Bard ?! :D
Don B. 5th Oct 2013, 5:53 PM edit delete reply
I'm no expert in this but I've always understood that Bards generally do not make good warriors. I would think that a Harper would be more fitting but not all of those were warrior types either.
highlander55 5th Oct 2013, 6:04 PM edit delete reply

Samurai maybe? They were warriors and also did poems and sonnets (later in the 18th and 19th centuries). It would go with the story line concepts.

Hey, Tokyo Rose, please make sure that CentComm gives me a call when she arrives in town, ok? I didn't catch her before she left, and want to make sure everything works out ok! *bounces off the walls waiting*
Tokyo Rose 5th Oct 2013, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

Will do!
Stormwind13 5th Oct 2013, 5:54 PM edit delete reply

You might let the rest of us know that CentComm is safe and sound, Rose. I think a lot of folks here want to know. Thank you.
cattservant 5th Oct 2013, 6:09 PM edit delete reply

"Inquiring Minds"
And all that...
Stormwind13 5th Oct 2013, 8:28 PM edit delete reply

Eating Arby's and you call that WELL, Rose? We need to discuss taste buds with you or something! :-D

Glad CentComm made it there and is eating at least. :-)

Hopefully she'll have something to say after she gets some sleep. I know how travel always zaps my energy.

Thank you for letting us all, Rose. :-)
Tokyo Rose 5th Oct 2013, 8:49 PM edit delete reply

No Arby's for an awful long time. :D
Stormwind13 6th Oct 2013, 5:16 AM edit delete reply

No Arby's period! :-D I mean, we have some pretty good BBQ in St. Louie... No need to go that route and sacrifice one's taste buds! :-D

Pappy's Smokehouse is considered one of the best BBQ joints in the US. And Super Smokers BBQ has racked up many awards for their BBQ, including World Champions and Restaurant of the Year by the BBQ Association. :-D

Of course, I still think St. Louis is more renowned for its Italian (the Hill is to die for). :-) And it is surprisingly inexpensive, if you avoid the wine and spirits. :-)

Cat's master survived (tell Aslan to whip him into shape will ya? :-D)

We will wait for you to be able to update, impatiently, but we WILL wait. :-D Take all the time you need. :-)
