SOOO the HD arrived and the SATA power connector is broken. SOOO it has to be sent back and exchanged, one of my Readers ordered the Drive and overnighted it. BUT newegg wants it sent BACK via UPS ground 3-7 days. and then they will overnight the replacement. WOW way to go here.

Its currently on its way back now - Newegg is handling the shipping back and the overnight to me BUT i have to wait for the UPS ground to GET to them 2 days it looks like then 24 hours to process the exchange.
then overnight back :D
Wow,it has been a while, but the last time I dealt with Tiger Direct with a problem they did like mjkj talked about. As soon as the UPS pkg hit the tracking system, Tiger sent the replacement. Newegg's method seems awkward. I wonder if it has anything to do with a difference in their supply chains?
Ugh, yeah, that's typical. if you don't put a hold on the credit card for the full amount of the drive, they won't cross ship it, and RMA shipping is always the lowest available. IE: "We have your money, we don't care about your satisfaction".
if I had to guess, they won't cross ship without a) a credit card on file and auth'd for the cross ship and b) the shipping address matching the credit card's. Both conditions are probably false, so they want to get a returned item before they send out another. Sucks, but cuts down on trouble for them.
That being said, how did they manage to snap off the power connector? Last time I got drives in from newegg they had a one inch foam bracket around them... Was it a WD red series? I've heard horrors about them arriving mulched from the factory.
the HD ( and yes it was a WD red series ) had plastic protectors and was still sealed in the anti static bag. I opened the back and noticed the SATA connector "looked odd" and sure enough it was broken.
it was still sorta connected via the leads that connect to the interface for the power ... >_<
*hands centy A small device* Just put this on thing about the person who did this....and make a choking gesture And truuuust me they will never do it again*
What a pity. Can you not get their support to do it differently? Like as soon as UPS has the hd they send out the new one?
...or just return. it, get a refund, and order somewhere else...
then overnight back :D

I once tried it and it ran at such a low framerate, and crashed so much, it was pretty much unplayable for me.
Which is odd, since I have a fairly beefy system.
Wouldn't be surprised if someone took you up on it too.
