That's right,
Flying Cars would imply roof top landing stages.
[So A&U PTA is out and up!]

Stormwind13 18th Dec 2013, 3:57 AM edit delete reply

Well it CAN imply that, Cat. You don't have to use the ability, but ground cars wouldn't be able to access that entrance for sure. :-) Cuts down on 'unwanted' guests (those damn vacuum sales people :-D) for sure.
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 11:56 AM edit delete reply

Just because something can fly, does not automatically mean they can fly very high.

Could be just a hover system, with limited operational height.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:07 PM edit delete reply

Vehicles have varying height maxes- most NT cars are restricted by software and hardware to just over the tallest buildings.
although there is no technical maximum Grav drives cant push a craft to.
Computant 13th Aug 2016, 10:22 PM edit delete reply
But I'm assuming conservation of energy still applies, and while fusion gives a lot of power, creating the potential energy that a heavy object at a high altitude possesses is a LOT of power. So the higher you want to go, the more expensive it is.
cattservant 17th Dec 2013, 9:45 PM edit delete reply

Now that Officer Allie mentions it,
Krystal does seem a bit 'hard edged'
And well connected for being a
"standard NTTA meet-and-greet drone".
jamie59 17th Dec 2013, 10:10 PM edit delete reply

It appears Krystal is above her apparent pay grade. Is Cent being cute or is there another player?
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 11:58 AM edit delete reply

Obviously, she could be an angel doll, but I doubt it.
Or she could be from another agency / party ... like, say, the douchebag party, or the smuggling imperium.

Or she could be a high end andy who ended up in a shitty job. Politics can put you in such a situation.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:08 PM edit delete reply

out of the options presented the last is more probable
Draginbeard 17th Dec 2013, 11:49 PM edit delete reply

You know Cent-Comm is having fun at your expense if you call for assistance and get the following message: "Thank you for contacting the First Circut Help desk. Please select from the following options...

If you are experiencing unspecified, tetonic emissions, press #1.

If you wish to upgrade to a newer body model so you can experience said emissions, press #2

If you currently subscribe to the conspiracy theory involving the 'Shadow Protocal' please disconnect this call, rotate your wetware 90°, and contact us again.

All other calls please remain online and your questions, and concerns will be logged and catagorized by relevance, by our next available Black Angel operative.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:08 PM edit delete reply

LOL love that line :D
Rashala 18th Dec 2013, 12:55 AM edit delete reply

BEt shes a ANGEL
velvetsanity 18th Dec 2013, 8:19 AM edit delete reply

Agreed, Rash...
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

Ah, but if she was a Centcomm Angel, then she'd already know that Centcomm was in there, and she seemed surprised by it on page 1085.
velvetsanity 18th Dec 2013, 12:23 PM edit delete reply

She might not necessarily know that CentComm keeps any dolls there on a continuing basis, Sheela.
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 2:47 PM edit delete reply

Ah, but if she was an Angel herself, she would be networked up to Centcomm, thus Centcomm's knowledge would be her knowledge.

Thus she shouldn't be surprised if she's an angel.
cattservant 19th Dec 2013, 1:03 AM edit delete reply

Could be a need to know system.
Sheela 19th Dec 2013, 5:20 AM edit delete reply

No, Centcomm "drives" her Angels directly, so angels have direct access to Centcomm's memory.
CeCi's autonomy is most unusual.
cattservant 19th Dec 2013, 11:05 AM edit delete reply

She doesn't have to though.
Look at CeCi as an example.
Sheela 19th Dec 2013, 11:17 AM edit delete reply

True, but according to herself during the bootup of Ceci, she's usually at the helm.

Remember that centcomm is an AIS who can run parallel versions of herself as easily as we breathe. So we should not assign human values to how she does things.
cattservant 19th Dec 2013, 12:04 PM edit delete reply

Wasn't she referring to her Dolls?
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:10 PM edit delete reply

Krystal is NOT a Angel :P

Also Black Angels are autotominus - the refernce way back is in error - only "Dolls" are slaved to the sel cast network and have no intelligence.

I suggest you check out the entry on black angels in the tech page :D
Sheela 19th Dec 2013, 3:23 PM edit delete reply

As I understood it, the "ordinary" angels .. or "white" angels, where not autonomous ?
velvetsanity 19th Dec 2013, 6:27 PM edit delete reply

They are, Sheela. The difference between white angels and black angels are that the white angels are publicly known about, while the black angels are like the Men in Black.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 7:12 PM edit delete reply

both are- Again like Velvet said - White Angels are the Andriods who are purpose built by centcomm to protect and aid her. Black Angels are more like "Agents" and deal with various "problems"
Stormwind13 18th Dec 2013, 4:11 AM edit delete reply

And here we see Minx trying to convince Ray of the validity of her arguments. Poor Ray, you are DOOMED. Minx has you in her sights, and has already proved to be an EXCELLENT shot (alright, so that was a SMART gun, but still... :-D).

I think Ray has a clue how doomed he is too from his response there in third panel. :-D
Marcus Ramesy 18th Dec 2013, 11:05 AM edit delete reply

more like a smart ass gun.. but similar software
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 12:01 PM edit delete reply

Well, she also sort of "shot" Kyle down from his hacking attempt of the building's network and told him that she was more than just a pretty face.

Methinks she does like Ray's face though! :)
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:26 PM edit delete reply

Minx actually is fully trained as a tech repair and coder - in addition to being familar with many types of Vehicles.
Sheela 19th Dec 2013, 3:24 PM edit delete reply

Interesting ... after all, we don't know much about her past and/or skillset.

Though tech-repair/coder is a pretty far cry from sex-bot.
mjkj 18th Dec 2013, 4:20 AM edit delete reply

I knew Krystal was special - but that...

I wonder if she can be subverted to go TeeDee...
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 12:09 PM edit delete reply

You mean HAL 9k ?
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:27 PM edit delete reply

LOL i guess the new term is going TD LOL:D
Dragonrider 18th Dec 2013, 8:04 AM edit delete reply

It makes sense that An Angel meets Mira and I've said her destination is a detention cell. Unless she is an agent of the Revolution Council, or a Cassian in Disguise.

Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 12:02 PM edit delete reply

Indeed, there's plenty of possibilities about what she can be.
I have said it before, and I'll say it again ... is she Miss Direction ?
Dragonrider 18th Dec 2013, 12:53 PM edit delete reply

No don't think she's Miss Direction, think she has an assignment who it's from is unknown, stands to reason (if that means anything the way these people throw plot twists and turns at us) if she was a Centcomm angel she would have known her counterpart was inside. Will cover sucker bets that say she's an easy take down for Vinnie. A weird what if, she is part of a security net run by whomever Silver was working for when she was hijacked by Centcomm for this mission that dude smelled like a Mafia Kingpin to me. Start at Page 716 to see what I'm referring to.
velvetsanity 18th Dec 2013, 2:07 PM edit delete reply

*If* she's a double agent of some kind, my money's on her answering to Rose.
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 2:51 PM edit delete reply

Both Dr Silver and Tokyo Rose are indeed interesting bets, heck, she could even be from Calliope Taylor herself, though I doubt it.

There's another player who haven't revealed him/herself yet, that might be even more obvious : Deep Blue.
Tokyo Rose 18th Dec 2013, 3:24 PM edit delete reply

Might as well be a maxim of the Datachasers universe by now: "If you don't know whodunnit, Tokyo Rose is probably behind it." :D
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 3:59 PM edit delete reply

Well, you sort of are. :D
velvetsanity 18th Dec 2013, 5:16 PM edit delete reply

Especially considering she writes the dialog :D
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

LOL I do write the intital stuff and the plot - but yeah Rose breaths life into the words :D
Stormwind13 18th Dec 2013, 6:18 PM edit delete reply

You may not be GUILTY, but we will BLAME you anyhow, Rose. :-)
VanEzzania 18th Dec 2013, 8:38 AM edit delete reply

Much tighter, and softer....... hmmm...
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 12:03 PM edit delete reply

Appearently, Minx thinks that she's both tight and soft. XD
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

well yeah!
KarToon12 18th Dec 2013, 12:16 PM edit delete reply

Only in this comic can you make talking about insurance policies super interesting. XDXD
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 2:49 PM edit delete reply

It's not the discussion about insurance that makes it interesting .. its ... well, here's a hint :

The birds are a metaphor for someone in this comic, if you hadn't guessed it.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:29 PM edit delete reply

hahah ok thats funny..
Tokyo Rose 18th Dec 2013, 3:29 PM edit delete reply

Our next task: working in a full discussion of economic models without putting the entire readership to sleep!
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 3:59 PM edit delete reply

Inconceivable !
cattservant 18th Dec 2013, 6:18 PM edit delete reply

Another discussion between Lynn and Acantha?
Hornet 19th Dec 2013, 10:54 AM edit delete reply
Gotta be better than those fools that think just because you have a nationalize currency you can just print your way out of debt.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

Muhaha - thats the idea :D
jas 18th Dec 2013, 4:32 PM edit delete reply

Sheela: You have posed a challenge to Rose! I imagine she's already in the planning stages to make it happen. XD

Love the expression in the last frame!
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

heh ... well, it is rather difficult to believe ... economics are BORING !
highlander55 18th Dec 2013, 5:57 PM edit delete reply

I'm sure he can see how excited she is in the second panel. Maybe he's playing hard to get? Or he's just hard and first time blood loss to his brain area.
Dragonrider 18th Dec 2013, 6:20 PM edit delete reply

Or he has the same mind set that TeeDee has, I want a "John Wayne Body" One that's rough, tough and don't take no crap off nobody.
Stormwind13 18th Dec 2013, 6:20 PM edit delete reply

At least it wasn't Aces and Eights, CentComm... :-D
Rashala 19th Dec 2013, 1:01 AM edit delete reply

Minx's Libido chip muse be SOOOO overclocked it requires its own Liquid Cooling system....
Sheela 19th Dec 2013, 5:22 AM edit delete reply

I hate to use the same picture twice in the same page .. but ..

No cooling needed.
She'll cope just fine with it running a bit hot.
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:30 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 19th Dec 2013, 3:26 PM edit delete reply

The lovebirds are getting it on !
Johninaustin 19th Dec 2013, 7:56 AM edit delete reply
I'm hung up on the fact Ray is using a sippy cup like my nieces.
velvetsanity 19th Dec 2013, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

it's one of those disposable convenience store coffee cups
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 2:30 PM edit delete reply

what velvet said :D
highlander55 19th Dec 2013, 5:10 PM edit delete reply

What! Don't tell me they had a convenience store war and Circle K is the one and only now! NO NO NO.
<sigh> Let me guess, it's right next to Taco Bell!
Centcomm 19th Dec 2013, 5:20 PM edit delete reply

Actually - Wendys won the fast food war.. LOL
highlander55 19th Dec 2013, 6:11 PM edit delete reply
Good, I prefer Wendy's.
highlander55 19th Dec 2013, 6:13 PM edit delete reply
Speaking of store wars. Since Circle K bought out Totem and 7 Eleven in the 80's not much else out there for them to buy up. Circle K still have their headquarters in Phoenix?
cattservant 19th Dec 2013, 7:54 PM edit delete reply

I wonder what the US culture would be like
if urban convenience stores functioned like the general stores of the mid 19th to 20th century South?
