Cent is actually NOT just being evil.. or trying to save her own skin.. I know you readers have a very negitive inpression of her. but she is not evil..
Storm let us hope this Arc continues for a space of more pages so we can see the result of the message delivery because methinks it shall bear heavily upon the next actions we find the our dysfunctional crew of misfits, Trader whatever his name is today and Co, the hackers and crackers AIS Triage, Rosie and Co, Gun Molls Inc, Dolly and Ceci, VWA better know as Victims With Attitude,Lynn,Acantha and Aeneas plus Gods and Goddesses only know who friggin else is joining the party do next.
Hey Aeneas already proved he has attitude, Lynn did with the Gutters, and with standing up to Douchie, and Acantha has with breaking into Aeneas fortress. Can't think of a better description for them.
*Reserves Judgement* She may not be evil in the sense of good and evil however she is amoral slanted to the greater good. In this case that led her to make judgements and take actions that were evil from the standpoint of someone with the normal moral compass our society engenders in its members.
I would say Neutral is appropriate for CentComm (character that is, YOU are still Chaotic Evil, CentComm... and that authoress too! :-D) with Lawful (she has rules she follows) and a (FEW) Good tendencies. :-)
How about right now? Give those of us who could not travel over a thousand miles to the Con a little parity with those who live within sneezing distance.
You guys already saw the con pages :D -
I actually live with 2 of my readers and they dont even get spoilers I kick everyone away from me when im working :D
OK so is Calli gonna break out her old waster leathers, Fallons guns, call up Breaker and the gang, grab Mira, Krystal, and Vinnie head for Joleet to join the unofficial invasion of Nova Roma using the Gutter APC Dolly has in storage? Douchebag ain't gotta chance.
Or is she gonna find out about Rose's backdoor route, just sit down hack into Aenaes system and reprogram from where she is, discover Lynn is there and use her to do the physical work tell Rose to go home and install Acantha as Defacto Ruler in Nova Roma with Marcus sitting as Viceroy while Acantha finishes her education in New Troy.
Sometimes the people with the greatest capacity, effectiveness, and willingness to damn near kill you are the ones doing it genuinely out of Love, and truly trying to help
She is still An AIS... not a human and as such her......views on what is and is not well....Acceptable or moral are subject tto human interpretation....
And if she tries to hurt Ceci for the "Greater Good" I will rewire her Audio inputs to 24-7 Nyan cat
No Cent is not evil. But Rose has done a good job of removing most of what makes the other characters so human that Cent seams evil.
Cent's eyes & expresion in the 2nd panel are so naughty child, maybe there's hope for her.
I think the images of CentComm here are great. She seems so contrite in those images, much like small children that got caught doing something wrong. :-)
I definitely think there is hope for CentComm. And I think if Mira is delivering the message I think (about CentComm's obstructionism of Dolly's mission) that it will have little impact on Calliope.
I keep being told that I do a great job of painting a character in three dimensions through what they say/think.
I deliberately cast the majority of Cent-Comm's dialogue in a "flat" fashion. She lacks much of the expressiveness of the human and android characters, and that's part of what makes it harder to relate to her. It's hard to convey in still images, but she very rarely has any "wasted" movement or drastic changes of expression. She's basically just broadcasting her awareness through her dolls; she lacks the connection to a body that an android would have (and that a human CERTAINLY has). That detail alone, even if the main consciousness of it is solely in my own mind, helps me present her in the proper (creepy) fashion.
Aeneas displays a great deal more emotive behavior, for a number of reasons. He was intentionally designed to be more "approachable" from the outset, rather than being kludged together over centuries of interlacing programs and integrated systems. His current doll is the only one he has, and pushing his awareness into it is a coping method; he can filter out some of the constant "OMG WE'S BROKEN" alarms that he receives from his damaged sections. His interactions with Acantha have helped him feel more "connected" to that doll as well; she's not the type to be shy about saying stuff like "Okay, the lack of expressions on your face is freaking me out, do something about it."
Well Deep blue keeps no dolls or any other physical presence .. and others .,.well time will tell :D
although with Cent .. the more "attention" she pays to the Doll.. the more expressive it is.. in this scene Cent is seriously paying attention so you are getting much more emotion than normal..
@Winter:
Absolutely from experience. We have a saying in my circle of close friends:
"Beating you like Family"...
But, Family being what it is, that is all I'm going to say.
Nice redo on the new incentive page gonna have to re~reread everything again with the new additions to pages, new graphics and dialogue. You could drop all but the dialogue, bolster it some and have a Hugo winning text novel here.
I'm being very serious here, you should at least enter this for a Hugo award in the graphic division, about time somebody gave Phil and Kaja Foglio some competition Girl Genius has walked away with the award for to many years. You have two current and one on hiatus competitors that are Plot wise, dialogue wise and graphic wise years ahead of that 2D pen and ink cartoon thing they do.
I am a huge, drooling fan of "Girl Genius". Being favorably compared to them makes me start acting like a dolt, as Cent can tell you (being the one who's informed me "We're ahead of 'Girl Genius' in the rankings!" only to watch me freeze up like a deer in headlights and almost drive into a lamppost).
I agree too. Now is anyone going to LonCon 2014 or Sasquan in Spokane, WA in 2015 that can nominate Data Chasers for a Hugo?
I can't swing London (though it is an interesting city from what I remember of it) and I can't get signed up for Sasquan before March (too many Christmas expenditures), if I could even make it then. One would have to be a member by Friday of either of those to have nominating privileges, if I'm reading it right. Or did anyone go to LoneStarCon 3? If so they would have nominating privileges since that was the 2013 World Con.
Only one nomination per member... and it would have to show up enough to make the true ballot, but even getting on one ballot might get it noticed in the right circles. (And it DESERVES to be noticed. CentComm, Tokyo Rose take a bow for your great work :-D).
I might be able to get to Sasquan, if everything falls in place in the next couple weeks I will be living less than 100 miles from Spokane. Ans yes London is an interesting town haven't been there since the 70's doubt I could navigate through it any more.
@Dragonrider. When I was in London in 2004 there where poles with about 10 cameras to keep an eye on everybody and everything. Talk about 1984's Big Brother.
Winterjay, feel free. I'm not the circle member who originally coined it anyway.
Hmmm. Girl Genius was mentioned...
That strip was my Introduction to webcomics. My top 5 is Girl Genius, Datachasers, of course, (Since Months before Teedee made me mad enough to post here for the first time), Schlock Mercenary, Quantum Vibe, and Spacetrawler. (Honorable mention, despite/because of no new posts in a LONG time, to Outsider.)
These all rate enough of my time to risk my good standing at job over.
Like I'm doing right now.
Good On You, ladies.
well I for one am glad for the comments Xrazer I have seen Girl Genius a few times but currently have no time to read other webcomics much save for a few ..
No, just the artist and author (not forgetting you Rose) are EVIL. :-D
The character CentComm actually has good intentions... paving a highway to hell. :-\
"I'm a Commenteer
And I'm OK..."
Eh?
And he sleeps all day"
I'm well acquainted with the joys of cats.
You have rendered unto us a strange world indeed.
I actually live with 2 of my readers and they dont even get spoilers I kick everyone away from me when im working :D

But you proably expected that... :D
Gonna go over to the corner and cry.
*hugs Mira*
I hope the message will not reverse that positive opinion...
And if she tries to hurt Ceci for the "Greater Good" I will rewire her Audio inputs to 24-7 Nyan cat
(P.S. I sincerely hope we won't get any friggin' "greater good" lines or other suchlike stereotypical horrors)
Group hug/dance/song session, anyone?
Lol, just kidding. Still. Good progress from these two on this page.

Like in this video, can you guess which cat did it ?

I wonder how the other AIS cope with their body image ?

Thank you for sharing, both of you. :-)
Keep up the good work.
