Great a reboot - and here I thought I had damaged it... ;)
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 8:35 AM edit delete reply

Nah, it's more resilient than that. :)
Dragonrider 11th Feb 2014, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

EVIL-1 YOU ARE EVIL!!!! Leaving us hanging to find out what Dolly's message is. Obviously this is one of Tokyo Rose's androids/agents getting Kyle a job.
Sheela 12th Feb 2014, 4:27 AM edit delete reply

I thought she was a human ?
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 11:16 AM edit delete reply

She *is* human.
Jacob J Sebastian 11th Feb 2014, 11:01 PM edit delete reply
YAY!!! Mariko is back!!! she's so CUTE!!! I just wanna pinch her cheeks!
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 3:56 AM edit delete reply

Not only cute, but also somewhat mysterious too. Moving pieces in the background to get things done for her real master.
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 4:36 AM edit delete reply

Seconded. She really is cute - more so than before...

I think the reboot did her good :)
velvetsanity 12th Feb 2014, 6:40 AM edit delete reply

*Is* that Miraiko or is it someone else? Notice her name isn't said anywhere in the page...
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 10:41 AM edit delete reply

True, but Miraiko was the inside contact for Rose (and personal slave/cook for Dr. Julia see here and after that).

And here she clearly is acting for Rose to ease the way in for Kyle (or Leo, now)
velvetsanity 12th Feb 2014, 11:20 AM edit delete reply

How do we know that Miraiko is the *only* contact Rose has inside New Rome?

With the rebuilds that Cent had to do, it's not *always* obvious who's who, so some confirmation whether this is the rebuilt Miraiko would be nice (hint hint) ^_~
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 1:25 PM edit delete reply

Yes .. this is Miraiko shes been only slightly enhanced with better shaders and a new hairstyle ( and the big coat ) ITS cold!!!
Tokyo Rose 12th Feb 2014, 3:04 PM edit delete reply

I'm personally not a big fan of Miraiko's rebuild. Right now, she looks like Snow fucking White. >_<
velvetsanity 12th Feb 2014, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

She does look rather ghostly pale..particularly compared to the old version...and that bright red lipstick is completely wrong for the pale complexion, too (not sure it would've been much better on the previous build, tbh - it'd make the previous build look like a hooker or something)
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 3:31 PM edit delete reply

the thing is the MESH is exactly the same.. the eyes are the same color.. and its the same skin texture .. I did switch out the hair style - as I have several gals that used that I wanted to change it up some.. and the makeup is proably a bit strong for her.. ( im not perfect? )
velvetsanity 12th Feb 2014, 3:33 PM edit delete reply

You might not be perfect but we love you anyway ^_~
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 4:40 PM edit delete reply

...and you provide us with this great comic - and for that we are very grateful.
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 5:14 PM edit delete reply

Very grateful. And enjoying it, even when you are EVIL (which is most of the time, it seems like). :-)
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 5:28 PM edit delete reply

And you say that like it is a BAD thing, Rose. :-D Snow White can be kick a$$ too. :-D
cattservant 12th Feb 2014, 6:04 PM edit delete reply

She might have a couple of dwarfs under her coat.
Sheela 12th Feb 2014, 11:24 PM edit delete reply

Red Dwarfs ? :)
Stormwind13 13th Feb 2014, 4:38 PM edit delete reply

ONE Red Dwarf is ENOUGH for any universe, Sheela... Unless you are talking parallel universes, keep it that way. :-)
velvetsanity 14th Feb 2014, 6:30 AM edit delete reply

One Red Dwarf may be enough...but thirteen Doctors isn't nearly enough :D
Centcomm 14th Feb 2014, 1:29 PM edit delete reply

I know RIGHT?
Draginbeard 11th Feb 2014, 11:02 PM edit delete reply

And here again is proof that when it comes to employment, who you know trumps what you know.
Lurker 12th Feb 2014, 12:06 AM edit delete reply
That is primarily true in what's called an Insider-Outsider economy. These generally occur when government grows beyond a certain size. See Greece. In Free Enterprise, you get crushed by the competition if you hire friends & family. That's why public corporations have strict rules against it.

New Rome is definitely Big Government.
Some Ed 4th Jun 2017, 8:26 AM edit delete reply
Depends on the friends and family. If you're hiring them *only* because they're friends or family, and you're not really lucky, then yes, you get eaten. But I've also seen it work other ways. Like one company I worked for (I was *not* friends and family, but in a big enough company, F&F only get you so far) is only still in business because one of the family hires happened to grow up seeing what the family company was doing wrong and went to school specifically to learn how to fix it. The company/family heads would *not* have hired him by credentials, as they refused to accept that their critical fails were mistakes, and if they'd accidentally hired him, they would've fired him fairly quickly after he started making changes, rather than giving him the years to prove he was right.

But that sort of shit's pure luck, considering they raised him to be another blind obedient son.

I've seen other companies who managed to hire someone who was far better than they could afford because he was a friend or family. And then after a bit, they could afford him. (That gender bias isn't mine - but when your sample size is 3 and you're in a country with a lot of gender bias, ...)
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 1:26 PM edit delete reply

yep pretty much.. dontcha hate that :D
plymayer 12th Feb 2014, 12:45 AM edit delete reply

Can I get a job in the palace?

I can wash dishes! ....... :)
cattservant 12th Feb 2014, 12:49 AM edit delete reply

Now the cast page is justified.
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 4:11 AM edit delete reply

Yeah Cat that is everyone on the cast page (still waiting for new additions though, Rose). Or is that Setorius? Don't see his 'tattoo' on the forehead.

Now having said that, surprised that Miraiko's reach could be quite so high. I mean, the Archpriest of Nova Roma? Whoa, serious pull there. Sounds like Setorius (if it is Setorius) owes something to Miraiko though, since he came to the meeting.
Dragonrider 12th Feb 2014, 1:22 PM edit delete reply

Doubt that is our High Priest, Setorius may well be in on the scam but is far enough removed to have semi plausible deniability.
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

hes actually a lesser Priest.. sorry, its not Setorious ..
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 7:25 PM edit delete reply

Well darn... that means we still have to meet the Sack of Scorpions... I mean, Setorious. :-D
Tokyo Rose 12th Feb 2014, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

Cast page rework is, well, in the works. Sorting out exactly who fits into what category and what's needed for them isn't easy. It's not nearly as high on my priority list as, say, getting new pages done. :D
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 3:33 PM edit delete reply

yeah .. still need to figure out a format and do the mini profile ..

( there are also more reboot pages in the works I switch around to prevent burn out the rotation works pretty well as ive been getting pages done consistantly .. :D )
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 6:10 PM edit delete reply

Yay for that! :-)

We like consistent pages. Especially YOUR (and Rose's) consistent pages. :-)
Centcomm 14th Feb 2014, 1:29 PM edit delete reply

:D thank you!
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 4:37 AM edit delete reply

Noooooooooooooooooooo, where is Dolly's message????
Dragonrider 12th Feb 2014, 6:39 AM edit delete reply

Mira ate it rather than risk Evil-1 getting it so now they have to wait for a passage of time.
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 8:09 AM edit delete reply

What a pity...
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

awww dont worry you know most of what Dolly was proably going to relay anyway..
Tokyo Rose 12th Feb 2014, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

Cent already 'fessed up to sabotaging Dolly's vehicle--which was the most important bit of Dolly's message--and told Calli that Ceci is a Black Angel.
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 5:12 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, but it would be interesting to hear how Dolly worded it (or you worded it FOR Dolly, Rose :-D). I mean, that could speak volumes on how Calliope reacts to the news. :-)
Sheela 12th Feb 2014, 11:28 PM edit delete reply

Also, sometimes it's almost as important for the reader to know *what* information the characters of the story have access to.

It's not like Calliope knows everything after all, she'll know what Centcomm admitted to, and what Mira tells her, and the general database entries on Joleet.

And I kinda doubt that Dolly would tell her that she slept with a man! >_<
Stormwind13 13th Feb 2014, 4:07 AM edit delete reply

Dolly, Sheela? She MIGHT fess up to nearly sleeping with Breaker. It wouldn't be the HUMAN thing to do, but... she still isn't sure about being human. :-D
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 8:36 AM edit delete reply

Nearly? NEARLY?

She literally slept on his cock!
Stormwind13 13th Feb 2014, 4:54 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I don't think Breaker stayed in that position long. I mean, once the action wasn't happening. He probably tucked her back in bed and went out to tend his bar again. We know that CeCi got to come watch Dolly, so she didn't "...throw up and die." (see comic Owwie from 25 March 2013) :-)

[Not putting links in back to the comics, since CentComm is planning on putting updated pages in, which will shift things, by 15 pages or so, I would guess. :-D]
velvetsanity 13th Feb 2014, 3:16 PM edit delete reply

Don't you mean "almost", Sheela? She passed out before they could do anything, remember...
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 5:05 PM edit delete reply

No, I meant that she literally slept with her head on top of his cock ... there was nothing 'nearly' nor 'almost' about it.

That said, she did sleep with him, but they didn't have intercourse.
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 5:33 PM edit delete reply

um no her little foray with breaker STAYS at breakers.. shes still a bit confused about that and has filed it " to be dealt with later" :D
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 11:12 AM edit delete reply

No, no, no, no ... she's now almost like a human, and no longer get to conveniently file things away!

The memories will now pop up, without warning, at the most emberassing times, just to make life more difficult.
And she will even experience longings .. in the loins even!

Oh Dolly, you will be our favorite plaything to torture with such excuisite confusion! :D
Centcomm 14th Feb 2014, 1:30 PM edit delete reply

LOLOLOL yes she will dear dolly .. :D
Rashala 12th Feb 2014, 1:13 PM edit delete reply

Hmm MAriko works for Rose *makes a line on his whiteboard of connections*
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

Rashala 12th Feb 2014, 5:24 PM edit delete reply

oh you laugh Centy *shows her the whiteboard.......And all the conenctiosn looks like a DR Who explanation of time.

Wibbly wobbly ball of timey wimey....ness....
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 5:31 PM edit delete reply

oh you have NO idea what intricate plots we weave.. :D
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 11:13 AM edit delete reply

I don't !

I hammer them out instead. :D
Johninaustin 12th Feb 2014, 2:16 PM edit delete reply
Ahh, that explains the problems. I thought I had screwed up the tablet again.
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 2:35 PM edit delete reply

Nope its all on Comic furys end ( well dreamhosts.. )
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 3:26 PM edit delete reply

It is a pity that other people mess up our reading with those stupid ddos attacks...
Centcomm 12th Feb 2014, 3:29 PM edit delete reply

yeah - they are lucky they arent doing that to the charcters Tokyo rose or Centcomm I would feel bad for them.. very bad..
mjkj 12th Feb 2014, 3:37 PM edit delete reply

I would not...
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 5:11 PM edit delete reply

Me either, mjkj. They would DESERVE what they would receive.
Tokyo Rose 13th Feb 2014, 3:43 AM edit delete reply

It would START with a strike team kicking in their windows.
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 9:21 AM edit delete reply

That actually happened once, in Russia no less.

A young hacker decided that Americans shouldn't have access to Russian sites, so he attacked the main peering routers, effectively cutting Russia off from the world. And sure enough, Americans couldn't access Russian sites, but Russia couldn't access foreign stock exchange sites either.

Once some seriously butthurt rich men complained to the FSB (their equivalent of the FBI), who very quickly tracked down the person behind the DDOS attack (either he was sloppy, or they have crazy good people in the FSB, or both), they decided to do something about it.

However, the FSB were stretched somewhat thin during the reforms, so they asked the GRU agency to lend them a few hands to go and fetch the person and his equipment at this address, pretty please with sugar on top.

The GRU department took it with glee, because they had a large group of veteran spetsnaz that would get unruly if they got too bored, so off they went, in 6 combat helicopters with 48 veteran spetsnaz troops in their bellies.

Quickly doors and windows were kicked in and all persons in a small house was arrested, including a teenager with a computer. Roughly 20 minutes later a couple of large cargo trucks arrived and the house was cleaned out of ... everything.

Appearently, one of the spetznaz had an odd form of humor, because he and his pals managed to get the still burning stove up unto the truck, *and* keep the fire lit all the way to storage on base. Imagine being the base commander for that lot ? "Here you go Sir, Computer, monitor, computer-table, office chair, carpet, cabinet, clothes, underwear and one still burning stove, please sign here."

Time from the DDOS attack began until the guy was arrested, just about 38 minutes.
The officials were supremely unapologetic though, because as they said, "on even a slow day, half an hour of outage could easily run up in missed profits of 15-30 millions."
Dragonrider 12th Feb 2014, 4:18 PM edit delete reply

Just discovered there may be another comic here on Fury about Dec. It's called, appropriately enough, Asshole and Douchebag
Stormwind13 12th Feb 2014, 5:35 PM edit delete reply

CentComm needs to contact them and get royalties from them then, Dragonrider. :-D
Dragonrider 12th Feb 2014, 7:27 PM edit delete reply

I looked at it, wouldn't get much
Marcus Ramesy 13th Feb 2014, 10:54 AM edit delete reply

only in russia.. can you deliver a still buring stove and not blink an eye...

in soviet russia.... stove delivers you....
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 11:15 AM edit delete reply

Darn right Marcus.

Though to be honest, I could see your in comic personae do something like that too, together with Ada & TeeDee.
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 5:30 PM edit delete reply

HAHA ok thats funny ..
KarToon12 12th Feb 2014, 8:39 PM edit delete reply

I was wondering why ComicFury was acting up on me today. I hope it doesn't last too long. >.>
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 5:30 PM edit delete reply

yeah apperenelt we are still having minor issues still because of it.. Sorry.
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 11:16 AM edit delete reply

Don't worry .. scriptkiddies usually get bored after a while. They seldomly last more than a week, even if they don't get caught.
