Dreamhost was hit by a massive DDoS attack this affects comic fury ( our host ) so lag and time outs are going to happen for a bit .. :( there is nothing we can do about it - Sorry
EVIL-1 YOU ARE EVIL!!!! Leaving us hanging to find out what Dolly's message is. Obviously this is one of Tokyo Rose's androids/agents getting Kyle a job.
How do we know that Miraiko is the *only* contact Rose has inside New Rome?
With the rebuilds that Cent had to do, it's not *always* obvious who's who, so some confirmation whether this is the rebuilt Miraiko would be nice (hint hint) ^_~
She does look rather ghostly pale..particularly compared to the old version...and that bright red lipstick is completely wrong for the pale complexion, too (not sure it would've been much better on the previous build, tbh - it'd make the previous build look like a hooker or something)
the thing is the MESH is exactly the same.. the eyes are the same color.. and its the same skin texture .. I did switch out the hair style - as I have several gals that used that I wanted to change it up some.. and the makeup is proably a bit strong for her.. ( im not perfect? )
That is primarily true in what's called an Insider-Outsider economy. These generally occur when government grows beyond a certain size. See Greece. In Free Enterprise, you get crushed by the competition if you hire friends & family. That's why public corporations have strict rules against it.
Depends on the friends and family. If you're hiring them *only* because they're friends or family, and you're not really lucky, then yes, you get eaten. But I've also seen it work other ways. Like one company I worked for (I was *not* friends and family, but in a big enough company, F&F only get you so far) is only still in business because one of the family hires happened to grow up seeing what the family company was doing wrong and went to school specifically to learn how to fix it. The company/family heads would *not* have hired him by credentials, as they refused to accept that their critical fails were mistakes, and if they'd accidentally hired him, they would've fired him fairly quickly after he started making changes, rather than giving him the years to prove he was right.
But that sort of shit's pure luck, considering they raised him to be another blind obedient son.
I've seen other companies who managed to hire someone who was far better than they could afford because he was a friend or family. And then after a bit, they could afford him. (That gender bias isn't mine - but when your sample size is 3 and you're in a country with a lot of gender bias, ...)
Yeah Cat that is everyone on the cast page (still waiting for new additions though, Rose). Or is that Setorius? Don't see his 'tattoo' on the forehead.
Now having said that, surprised that Miraiko's reach could be quite so high. I mean, the Archpriest of Nova Roma? Whoa, serious pull there. Sounds like Setorius (if it is Setorius) owes something to Miraiko though, since he came to the meeting.
Cast page rework is, well, in the works. Sorting out exactly who fits into what category and what's needed for them isn't easy. It's not nearly as high on my priority list as, say, getting new pages done. :D
yeah .. still need to figure out a format and do the mini profile ..
( there are also more reboot pages in the works I switch around to prevent burn out the rotation works pretty well as ive been getting pages done consistantly .. :D )
Yeah, but it would be interesting to hear how Dolly worded it (or you worded it FOR Dolly, Rose :-D). I mean, that could speak volumes on how Calliope reacts to the news. :-)
Also, sometimes it's almost as important for the reader to know *what* information the characters of the story have access to.
It's not like Calliope knows everything after all, she'll know what Centcomm admitted to, and what Mira tells her, and the general database entries on Joleet.
And I kinda doubt that Dolly would tell her that she slept with a man! >_<
Dolly, Sheela? She MIGHT fess up to nearly sleeping with Breaker. It wouldn't be the HUMAN thing to do, but... she still isn't sure about being human. :-D
Yeah, I don't think Breaker stayed in that position long. I mean, once the action wasn't happening. He probably tucked her back in bed and went out to tend his bar again. We know that CeCi got to come watch Dolly, so she didn't "...throw up and die." (see comic Owwie from 25 March 2013) :-)
[Not putting links in back to the comics, since CentComm is planning on putting updated pages in, which will shift things, by 15 pages or so, I would guess. :-D]
No, no, no, no ... she's now almost like a human, and no longer get to conveniently file things away!
The memories will now pop up, without warning, at the most emberassing times, just to make life more difficult.
And she will even experience longings .. in the loins even!
Oh Dolly, you will be our favorite plaything to torture with such excuisite confusion! :D
A young hacker decided that Americans shouldn't have access to Russian sites, so he attacked the main peering routers, effectively cutting Russia off from the world. And sure enough, Americans couldn't access Russian sites, but Russia couldn't access foreign stock exchange sites either.
Once some seriously butthurt rich men complained to the FSB (their equivalent of the FBI), who very quickly tracked down the person behind the DDOS attack (either he was sloppy, or they have crazy good people in the FSB, or both), they decided to do something about it.
However, the FSB were stretched somewhat thin during the reforms, so they asked the GRU agency to lend them a few hands to go and fetch the person and his equipment at this address, pretty please with sugar on top.
The GRU department took it with glee, because they had a large group of veteran spetsnaz that would get unruly if they got too bored, so off they went, in 6 combat helicopters with 48 veteran spetsnaz troops in their bellies.
Quickly doors and windows were kicked in and all persons in a small house was arrested, including a teenager with a computer. Roughly 20 minutes later a couple of large cargo trucks arrived and the house was cleaned out of ... everything.
Appearently, one of the spetznaz had an odd form of humor, because he and his pals managed to get the still burning stove up unto the truck, *and* keep the fire lit all the way to storage on base. Imagine being the base commander for that lot ? "Here you go Sir, Computer, monitor, computer-table, office chair, carpet, cabinet, clothes, underwear and one still burning stove, please sign here."
Time from the DDOS attack began until the guy was arrested, just about 38 minutes.
The officials were supremely unapologetic though, because as they said, "on even a slow day, half an hour of outage could easily run up in missed profits of 15-30 millions."

I think the reboot did her good :)
And here she clearly is acting for Rose to ease the way in for Kyle (or Leo, now)
With the rebuilds that Cent had to do, it's not *always* obvious who's who, so some confirmation whether this is the rebuilt Miraiko would be nice (hint hint) ^_~
...and you provide us with this great comic - and for that we are very grateful.
New Rome is definitely Big Government.
But that sort of shit's pure luck, considering they raised him to be another blind obedient son.

Can I get a job in the palace?
I can wash dishes! ....... :)
Miraiko!

We like consistent pages. Especially YOUR (and Rose's) consistent pages. :-)
Noooooooooooooooooooo, where is Dolly's message????
What a pity...
It's not like Calliope knows everything after all, she'll know what Centcomm admitted to, and what Mira tells her, and the general database entries on Joleet.

She literally slept on his cock!
[Not putting links in back to the comics, since CentComm is planning on putting updated pages in, which will shift things, by 15 pages or so, I would guess. :-D]
That said, she did sleep with him, but they didn't have intercourse.

Wibbly wobbly ball of timey wimey....ness....
I hammer them out instead. :D

in soviet russia.... stove delivers you....
Though to be honest, I could see your in comic personae do something like that too, together with Ada & TeeDee.
