I mean, it's not like he's a teenager in love, right? Those kind make some bad, impulsive decisions. Kyle's like a well-prepped special infiltration agent, hand-picked by Tokyo Rose for . . .
. . . wait, was that some other comic I was reading?
We'll see. He struck me as being *very* naive when I gave him the disk.
At the time, I wasn't sure what was going on. His naiveté suggested that he had perhaps annoyed someone and was trying to run and hide, but that sort of situation didn't fit with my being involved.
Also places him close to somewhere he can get in trouble, however the kitchen computers probably do not have the security others do and they would need access to deep memory for cooking recipes that are family traditions a good route for Rose to backdoor through.
After thinking about this for a minute, Im of the opinion that while he might want to, he will restrain himself. Unless this turns life threatening, my guess is he will plan something quietly for later.
He was chosen for this because he is smart enough to play the role needed.
Agree Velvet, let him go in if he helps I'm ahead, if not I'm no worse off than before and some security may relax because they caught him. No downside for the electronic puppet-master.
Wait, so getting caught in a minor kitchen scuffle is going to throw them off the real mission? Unless Kali gets involved, (and for something like this, why would she?) its unlikely he is going to give them any meaningful intel, or am I reading this wrong?
And just as a side note, if a security breach was discovered, it would cause an alert, not relax the staff.
His getting caught has no upside. Especially for him.
@Draginbeard If Kyle/Leo helps Rose get in the system she's ahead, if he doesn't and gets caught she's not lost anything and Security caught someone they expected to try to get in to break Lynn out, they relax a little.
@Dragonrider, Ive been doing corporate security for quite a few years now, I promise you, a breach is not wanted, especially if there is already an alert out.
If an intruder still manages to infiltrate a (royal, mind you) location, despite an issued BOLO (Be on the Lookout), the entire facility will go on high alert. That is plain and even basic security protocol.
The first question from the top brass is going to be 'You knew the site was at risk, and still failed to prevent the intrusion?'
Someone is going to lose their job (and in a place like this, possibly their life) at the end of the day. That's good incentive to take even the smallest incident very seriously.
Does Rose care if Kyle/Leo gets caught? Probably not, but she should.
This has the potential to go sideways very quickly.
If they get even a hint that there is a greater mission in play, it wouldn't take much to back track Kyle/Leo's movements and start unraveling all kinds of secrets.
The only saving grace here is that this could easily be viewed as straight forward incident with an unruly employee. But only if Kyle/Leo plays it smart.
If you all are right about him being head-strong and stubborn, and that the palace is expecting some kind of intrusion... even a cursory look at how Kyle/Leo got hired on is going to raise suspicions. Thats enough to get the ball rolling in the worst possible direction.
But again, I could be reading things wrong. I just know what the logical steps are in my line of work.
Hrm, I seem to remember a pair of old BOLO tanks form the Old Guard by name of DBC "Death by Chains" and DBQ "Death by Quarter", it wouldn't happen to be them, would it ? I think they got stationed on some backwater planet, I wonder what happend to them.
I have to agree with Draginbeard here. If you have a breech of any kind, security immediately increases vigilance. It is frequently the case of closing the door after the horses have all been stolen, but it is the way all the security I'm familiar with operates. And they stay hyper vigilant for awhile (a period of a few days to a few months) before relaxing. So inserting anyone with the expectation of getting them caught would be counterproductive I think.
But Rose has kind of stacked the deck here. I mean, she has 2 agents in the room, plus a suborned member of the Priesthood. So the poor Kitchen Master is purely outnumbered. :-)
And who is the young lady in the background of the 4th panel there? Is it aforementioned Junilla? Or yet another player in the drama unfolding (Rose did say she has agents EVERYWHERE after all :-D)? :-)
@velvet: That was one point of why Rose chose him another was that he is good with computers, AIs etc. hardware and software, and has the skills to actually repair Aeneas.
Well, yes, his skill set was ideal, and she knew she couldn't really stop him anyway. Still had nothing to do with him having any ability to 'play the role'.
Yeah, but at the end it's not really the kitchen-master that needs something done to him. Kitchen-master is just doing what's expected to keep the bricks from falling on all of their heads.

Give Maxus another good excuse to whip the Douchebag a bit more. :D
But being on the kitchen staff
is an excellent bit of A&U!
Was it Tofu-Tuna they mentioned? :p
Heck, if Priest Agrippa really has as bad a temper and selfcontrol as has been hinted at, maybe Kyle need to get him out of a sticky situation. :D
*hugs Sergia*
I hope Leo does not do something stupid...
PS: I like the new (quite big) vote incentive - though it has quite the outch factor going...
poor Lynn...
PPS: You mention Kyle in the alt text and in the Author's note - but there is no Kyle anymore, there only is Leo...
as for the inceintive yep Lynn kicks the snot out of Gavin :D
PS har har!
He was chosen for this because he is smart enough to play the role needed.
In other words, "he's going in anyway, so might as well try to make him useful"?
