I last saw snow several years back, when Mr. Black and I were driving east for his grandmother's funeral. At like three in the morning, in the middle of Fuck-All-Nowhere, Oklahoma, I desperately needed to find a bathroom. We rolled up an off-ramp to a small gas station and discovered it was closed. With my back teeth floating, we started down the on-ramp to get back onto the highway, and I realized that there was a totally empty field on the right-hand side of the road. I figured that it was late, there was nobody and nothing around, and if I went over on the passenger side, nobody who did pass by would even see me. Pulled over, jumped out of the car, ran around to the passenger side, and . . . felt a funny crunch underfoot. Looked down at the soft, magical blanket of white. Said, "Oh my God, this is the first time I've seen real snow in, like, ten years."
Then I unzipped my britches and pissed on the first snow I'd seen in, like, ten years, because FUCK SNOW.
Living in Denamrk, I see snow on a yearly basis, no exceptions so far.
But some years, such as this one, has had a lot less snow than normal.
I still think the best joke ever was when a UN climate discussion about global warming was cancelled due to too much snow in Copenhagen. :D The Global Warming Protesters were FURIOUS !
Snow and global warming are not mutually exclusive. Warmer temps mean more moisture in the atmosphere which means more snow. And I think where I live, we got all the snow you're missing!
Growing up in St. Louis (well, half the time, divorced parents) I remember that it would snow about every other year. Recently it snowed in St. Louis and folks were like "LOL, global warming? It snowed in St. Louis, how is that global warming." and I was really confused. Then I found out that it hadn't snowed in St. Louis for over 10 years, and folks got used to the idea that St. Louis didn't get snow.
The snowstorm that made them think global warming wasn't happening showed me how bad it was.
Offcourse, if Dolly had been in her situation, neither of the gutters would have survived their encounter with Dolly.
So, tough as she is, Lynn is not the toughest out there, but she still have time to learn. Heck, for all we know, that's what Irene is there to teach her.
With cyber enhancements such as some of the Crewe of Percheron have she could easily hold TeeDee to a standstill, but that's not tough, that's just brawn. Tough is the krap she's been through and still has enough in her to smack Douchie up side the head with a candlestick knowing she could end up dead or worse for her actions, that is tough.
Actually, we do have brakes on all four tires: disc breaks on the front two, and drum brakes on the back two. That's been standard on all cars for quite awhile.
Hey, we're not THAT backwards. Not totally. Not really. {sigh} I'm not fooling anybody, am I. Maybe that's why my older sister traded Florida for Denmark so many years ago (recently gave up her USA citizenship). :-)
I would have preferred if she had Kicked him a few dozen times in his groin too...Buuuut I think MAxius took care of that aprt of his anatomy beign crushed in their little training session
Don't mind snow, just hate getting stuck behind some idiot that thinks everyone will die unless they drive 10MPH or less. There is a special place in the hereafter for those folks, it's solid ice and they have to walk on it, it's patrolled by Hell's Angels on snowmobiles with ice blades and they all carry and use cattle prods.
Eh, people like that would end up in a mountainous part of hell, where they could not drive cars and would have to walk and carry everything, everywhere.
No more cruising along at 70mph while doing nothing.
Hard work, that makes you apprechiate moving even at 20mph.
Something bad happens... Bad enough that Acantha was more worried about stopping Lynn than dealing with her own injuries. We don't know exactly what the "Contingencies" are... but it doesn't sound like anyone should be in a HURRY to trigger them. :-)
I'm glad someone else recalled this too. I ran a look back but I couldn't find the page.
If I recall correctly, Decimus has a deadman's switch set up connected to several tri-fusion bombs.
That was the tremendous understatement I was referring to.
The bigger problem at the time she was discussing them with Lynn is that she was in the same room as Douchebag. And we don't know where they are housed, under the city... out in the bay... or even if they ARE nuclear devices... or something else even worse (anti-matter bomb anyone? :-p).
I don't remember the 'contingency' as being defined for sure. Just that Acantha did NOT want them activated.

The Global Warming Protesters were FURIOUS !
We've had so much of the stuff this year it's not funny. Over 100 inches and counting (not all at once but close). Bleah! Can't wait for spring!
That's catastrophically small amounts. :(
I shall take up religion and pray for you to get more snow. :)
But I get rain. LOTS and LOTS of rain.
And in 2010 We got a lot of snow. . .
The snowstorm that made them think global warming wasn't happening showed me how bad it was.
> At Dragonrider , Dolly would be VERY proud of Lynn :D
So, tough as she is, Lynn is not the toughest out there, but she still have time to learn. Heck, for all we know, that's what Irene is there to teach her.
Once she gets some experience under her belt, she just might prove to be as tough as Dolly or Teedee (bodily limitations notwithstanding)
Sounds funny coming from someone who lives in Florida.
I do though. As long as I don't have to shovel it or drive in it.
I can drive in it. All the others who can not increase the danger to unhealthy levels.
You guys don't have brakes on all four wheels ?
What sorta backwards country do you live in? the USA ?
Hey, we're not THAT backwards. Not totally. Not really. {sigh} I'm not fooling anybody, am I. Maybe that's why my older sister traded Florida for Denmark so many years ago (recently gave up her USA citizenship). :-)
I missed snow this season - it snowed only one day... * sighs*
Yup, Lynn missed out on some fun...
*hugs them*
*sighs*

XD
I'm not sure she really understood the concept. :D
"Snow called water going violent."
