Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 9:44 PM edit delete reply

I last saw snow several years back, when Mr. Black and I were driving east for his grandmother's funeral. At like three in the morning, in the middle of Fuck-All-Nowhere, Oklahoma, I desperately needed to find a bathroom. We rolled up an off-ramp to a small gas station and discovered it was closed. With my back teeth floating, we started down the on-ramp to get back onto the highway, and I realized that there was a totally empty field on the right-hand side of the road. I figured that it was late, there was nobody and nothing around, and if I went over on the passenger side, nobody who did pass by would even see me. Pulled over, jumped out of the car, ran around to the passenger side, and . . . felt a funny crunch underfoot. Looked down at the soft, magical blanket of white. Said, "Oh my God, this is the first time I've seen real snow in, like, ten years."

Then I unzipped my britches and pissed on the first snow I'd seen in, like, ten years, because FUCK SNOW.
Dragonrider 17th Mar 2014, 6:59 AM edit delete reply

There are places like Prescott and Sedona in AZ that do get major winter snow. Don't you wish you lived there?
Sheela 17th Mar 2014, 8:54 AM edit delete reply

Living in Denamrk, I see snow on a yearly basis, no exceptions so far.
But some years, such as this one, has had a lot less snow than normal.

I still think the best joke ever was when a UN climate discussion about global warming was cancelled due to too much snow in Copenhagen. :D
The Global Warming Protesters were FURIOUS !
Max Blomberg 17th Mar 2014, 1:19 PM edit delete reply
Apparently all of your snow in Denmark was myseriously teleported over the skies of the US.
Hodge 17th Mar 2014, 5:50 PM edit delete reply
Snow and global warming are not mutually exclusive. Warmer temps mean more moisture in the atmosphere which means more snow. And I think where I live, we got all the snow you're missing!
cattservant 17th Mar 2014, 3:42 PM edit delete reply

"Watch out where the huskies go..." (!)
Hodge 17th Mar 2014, 5:48 PM edit delete reply
You are not missing a gosh-darned thing.

We've had so much of the stuff this year it's not funny. Over 100 inches and counting (not all at once but close). Bleah! Can't wait for spring!
Sheela 18th Mar 2014, 3:49 PM edit delete reply

Aw, you only get a hundred inches a year ?

That's catastrophically small amounts. :(
I shall take up religion and pray for you to get more snow. :)
Aura_Spark 27th May 2014, 11:52 AM edit delete reply

I don't get that much snow. . .
But I get rain. LOTS and LOTS of rain.

And in 2010 We got a lot of snow. . .
Computant 14th Aug 2016, 1:38 PM edit delete reply
Growing up in St. Louis (well, half the time, divorced parents) I remember that it would snow about every other year. Recently it snowed in St. Louis and folks were like "LOL, global warming? It snowed in St. Louis, how is that global warming." and I was really confused. Then I found out that it hadn't snowed in St. Louis for over 10 years, and folks got used to the idea that St. Louis didn't get snow.
The snowstorm that made them think global warming wasn't happening showed me how bad it was.
cattservant 16th Mar 2014, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

There is a tremendous understatement in today's page.
velvetsanity 16th Mar 2014, 9:10 PM edit delete reply

Only one?
cattservant 16th Mar 2014, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Only one overt one.
Dragonrider 16th Mar 2014, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

"I'm not a total wimp" With everything she has gone through and she really hasn't lost it yet she's far from a wimp. Dolly would be proud of her.
Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 9:44 PM edit delete reply

yes there are .. several :D

> At Dragonrider , Dolly would be VERY proud of Lynn :D
Sheela 17th Mar 2014, 8:57 AM edit delete reply

Offcourse, if Dolly had been in her situation, neither of the gutters would have survived their encounter with Dolly.

So, tough as she is, Lynn is not the toughest out there, but she still have time to learn. Heck, for all we know, that's what Irene is there to teach her.
velvetsanity 17th Mar 2014, 10:26 AM edit delete reply

Lynn's not the toughest, but that's just because of the limitations of the human body vs android bodies and a general lack of experience.

Once she gets some experience under her belt, she just might prove to be as tough as Dolly or Teedee (bodily limitations notwithstanding)
Dragonrider 17th Mar 2014, 12:23 PM edit delete reply

With cyber enhancements such as some of the Crewe of Percheron have she could easily hold TeeDee to a standstill, but that's not tough, that's just brawn. Tough is the krap she's been through and still has enough in her to smack Douchie up side the head with a candlestick knowing she could end up dead or worse for her actions, that is tough.
jamie59 16th Mar 2014, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

I've seen too damm much of snow this year. Infact it's coming down right now & spring is coming this week!
Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 10:46 PM edit delete reply

YAY for spring!
plymayer 16th Mar 2014, 10:58 PM edit delete reply

I love the snow.

Sounds funny coming from someone who lives in Florida.

I do though. As long as I don't have to shovel it or drive in it.
Hornet 17th Mar 2014, 7:04 AM edit delete reply
Yeah snows like a lot of things, only nice to look at.
Sheela 17th Mar 2014, 8:58 AM edit delete reply

I don't much like shovelling it either, but oddly enough, I *do* like driving in it. :)
Stormwind13 17th Mar 2014, 2:29 PM edit delete reply

Driving in it doesn't bother me too much. It is having to drive in it with 50K OTHER idiots that stresses me out. :-p
Highlander55 17th Mar 2014, 2:36 PM edit delete reply
Stormwind, The other drivers think they can go fast because they have 4-wheel drive. Idiots don't realize they don't have 4-wheel braking.
plymayer 17th Mar 2014, 9:40 PM edit delete reply

That is it exactly.

I can drive in it. All the others who can not increase the danger to unhealthy levels.
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 5:14 PM edit delete reply

im glad people seem to like the snow effects :D
Sheela 18th Mar 2014, 3:53 PM edit delete reply

... wait, wait ...

You guys don't have brakes on all four wheels ?
What sorta backwards country do you live in? the USA ?
Quieteyes 20th Mar 2014, 6:22 PM edit delete reply
Actually, we do have brakes on all four tires: disc breaks on the front two, and drum brakes on the back two. That's been standard on all cars for quite awhile.

Hey, we're not THAT backwards. Not totally. Not really. {sigh} I'm not fooling anybody, am I. Maybe that's why my older sister traded Florida for Denmark so many years ago (recently gave up her USA citizenship). :-)
Rashala 17th Mar 2014, 12:08 AM edit delete reply

I would have preferred if she had Kicked him a few dozen times in his groin too...Buuuut I think MAxius took care of that aprt of his anatomy beign crushed in their little training session
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 5:14 PM edit delete reply

well yeah .. :D
mjkj 17th Mar 2014, 1:40 AM edit delete reply

I missed snow this season - it snowed only one day... * sighs*

Yup, Lynn missed out on some fun...

*hugs them*
Stormwind13 17th Mar 2014, 2:58 AM edit delete reply

You could have HAD some of our snow, mjkj. We had too many storms, including the one yesterday. You would have been welcome to ANY or all of them. :-p
mjkj 17th Mar 2014, 5:16 AM edit delete reply

yup, personally I would have.
Sheela 17th Mar 2014, 8:59 AM edit delete reply

Hey, don't hog all the snow, send some my way ... Denmark don't get enough snow, we want MOAR. :(
Dragonrider 17th Mar 2014, 12:30 PM edit delete reply

Don't mind snow, just hate getting stuck behind some idiot that thinks everyone will die unless they drive 10MPH or less. There is a special place in the hereafter for those folks, it's solid ice and they have to walk on it, it's patrolled by Hell's Angels on snowmobiles with ice blades and they all carry and use cattle prods.
mjkj 17th Mar 2014, 1:22 PM edit delete reply

So true, Sheela, they could send some snow over the pond, this way to us...

Stormwind13 18th Mar 2014, 2:32 PM edit delete reply

::Throws snowballs at Sheela and mjkj:: :-D
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 5:15 PM edit delete reply

hehe Lynn probably wont have happy memorys of snow sadly >_<
Sheela 18th Mar 2014, 3:56 PM edit delete reply

Eh, people like that would end up in a mountainous part of hell, where they could not drive cars and would have to walk and carry everything, everywhere.

No more cruising along at 70mph while doing nothing.
Hard work, that makes you apprechiate moving even at 20mph.
VanEzzania 17th Mar 2014, 6:00 AM edit delete reply

I love her allergy-affected speech. xD
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 5:15 PM edit delete reply

that was all Rose .. it really came accross well I think :D
Johninaustin 17th Mar 2014, 9:05 AM edit delete reply
Snow? I'm against it. Though we've had a hard winter this year and it's hilarious to watch birds land on a frozen birdbath.
Don B. 17th Mar 2014, 3:23 PM edit delete reply
Being Canadian, I've seen more than my share of snow. I gotta say that I don't mind the snow as much as the cold that comes with it.
antrik 10th Oct 2016, 7:57 AM edit delete reply
Cold is fine, as long as it's not windy...
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 5:16 PM edit delete reply

KarToon12 17th Mar 2014, 1:00 PM edit delete reply

*in Bambi's voice* Hey! What's all that white stuff?

Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 5:16 PM edit delete reply

oh yeah Lynns only seen snow in textbooks - amazing huh?
Sheela 18th Mar 2014, 3:57 PM edit delete reply

Once tried to explain snow to an african gal from Gambia.

I'm not sure she really understood the concept. :D
cattservant 18th Mar 2014, 12:11 AM edit delete reply

To quote an old song,
"Snow called water going violent."
Stormwind13 18th Mar 2014, 2:27 PM edit delete reply

I think of snow more as water going weird, Cat. I mean, it takes up more volume and goes from clear to cloudy in the process... Weird, right? :-D
Hornet 18th Mar 2014, 8:49 AM edit delete reply
Should have Just killed him and support Acantha's rise to power.
Rashala 18th Mar 2014, 1:55 PM edit delete reply

problem with that is.......He dies like that.....Systems go off and Boom
Stormwind13 18th Mar 2014, 2:31 PM edit delete reply

Something bad happens... Bad enough that Acantha was more worried about stopping Lynn than dealing with her own injuries. We don't know exactly what the "Contingencies" are... but it doesn't sound like anyone should be in a HURRY to trigger them. :-)
cattservant 18th Mar 2014, 2:48 PM edit delete reply

I'm glad someone else recalled this too. I ran a look back but I couldn't find the page.
If I recall correctly, Decimus has a deadman's switch set up connected to several tri-fusion bombs.
That was the tremendous understatement I was referring to.
Hornet 18th Mar 2014, 3:33 PM edit delete reply
Yeah I remembered the contingency plans as soon as I hit enter, Still say they are a non-issue as Acantha would be heir apparent.
velvetsanity 18th Mar 2014, 4:06 PM edit delete reply

The problem lies in the fact if Decimus dies Acantha will be heir apparent to an empty, dead, irradiated wasteland.
Stormwind13 18th Mar 2014, 4:26 PM edit delete reply

The bigger problem at the time she was discussing them with Lynn is that she was in the same room as Douchebag. And we don't know where they are housed, under the city... out in the bay... or even if they ARE nuclear devices... or something else even worse (anti-matter bomb anyone? :-p).

I don't remember the 'contingency' as being defined for sure. Just that Acantha did NOT want them activated.
Centcomm 18th Mar 2014, 6:35 PM edit delete reply

no one but a very very few even know what the contingency is .. only that it terrifies everyone ..
Centcomm 18th Mar 2014, 6:35 PM edit delete reply

antrik 10th Oct 2016, 8:04 AM edit delete reply
Whee, snow! :-)
